With summer heating up any respectable G-Vegas alum should head out with the proper eyewear – let’s get serious we all need to protect those baby blues (greens & browns too!). Sunglasses for the Summer of 2012 are looking just as good as those little bikinis at the pool parties.

Costa del Mar continues to deliver the goods by pairing 100% UV protection with some stellar new styles. They have recently emerged from being a fishermen’s sunglass brand to now offering a little some-thing -something for the land locked folks as well. This year they were looking out for the ladies with the introduction of the Caye, Peninsula, and Las Olas frames. The Caye has a Ray Ban - Wayfarer look while staying close to its Costa del Mar roots. My personal favorite Caye color combo is Costa’s sultry Tortoise frame paired with their 580P lens in amber (Overton’s -$169.00). Gentlemen don’t be excluded – the right confident fella could totally pull off a pair of Caye glass-es. You just can’t go wrong with black frames with grey lenses. A classic lens color with a timeless frame is a good look on anyone!

For our guys who need a little more protection from those long days on the water – Costa has introduced the Double Haul and Co-cos styles. The Cocos frame is an addition to their wire framed line-up. Its polished aviator look can be dressed up or down in an in-stant with the right outfit. I would put this on my list of top ten frame choices for the fellas – what man doesn’t look good in this modern take on the aviator? The Double Haul is a solid choice for my guys out there who have one goal in mind – landing the big one. The larger frame style provides extra protection from that hot Eastern NC

sun. Any of the mirrored lenses (which look killer in this frame) provide water clarity while fishing on the Tar or Pamlico (Overton’s - $199.00).

Let’s not forget about Costa’s tried and true frames that continue to be solid staples year after year. The Triple Tail, Permit, Harpoon, and Isabela frames just never go out of style. I still rock the first pair of Isabelas I purchased 3 years ago - they look great with anything.

For the budget conscious yet stylish Greenville-ites - Hobie eyewear has kept the wallet in mind with trendy facial flare. For 2012 they rolled out the Olas frame which is a great uni-sex style offered in a ton of colors. Personal favorites for summer in the Olas would be black fade, red, or the shiny horn/grey. All Hobie frames come in at a price that will make any budget smile - $69.99! The Manchester frame is also a home run with its fun surfer feel. This frame comes in brown or black. The best Hobie ladies styles for 2012 are definitely the Mya or Emma. Ladies - channel you inner Jackie O with the amazing cat framed shade (Emma) or rock the G-Vegas social scene in a pair of the Myas!

For a day at the pool, on the river, or at the beach these new styles are a must! The right pair of shades complete any look. (Note - the sunglasses mentioned in this article also provide a great disguise for those morning that just come a little too early!)

“"I learned from Side by Side Counselinghow to truly enjoy my Summer in a safe way!."

Side by Side Really Takes Care of Everything!

HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE SUMMER!

Now that the time has come, summer is upon us and the heat will start barreling down on us here in Greenville, just like it does every year. But instead of sitting in your apartment or house, catching as much A/C as possible and sky-rocketing your electric bill, why don’t you take the chance to enjoy it in some easy and cheap ways.

You should always take some time and head to the beach; it’s pretty much what you have been waiting for all winter. Go get your tan on, play some volleyball, maybe bring a bat, cooler, and some drinks to play some dizzy bat, or just bring a chair and relax. Whatever you do, you must go hit the sand and get your butt in the water.

Also, this is your time to get in shape because the bathing suits come out and there are many summer nights in Greenville headed your way. So if you have some time, don’t be lazy and hit some weights.

Here are some other ideas that you could take into consider-ation: attend some concerts, fishing (day or night), picnics, visit some parks, pick-up games at the courts/fields, volunteer work, pick up some shifts, hit the water parks/amusement parks (never too old to be a kid), classic water fight, summer nights out on the porch, camping, go off-roading, hit as many pools as possible, make some things (possible floating beer pong table was my fa-vorite), beer Olympics, disc golf or actual golf, and so much more. There are many opportunities out there for your college students to not waste the summer away because before you know it, football season will come, then winter won’t be far behind.

If anything, don’t ever think about trips or activities, just go out there and do them. Don’t let yourself get lazy, tired, bored, or any-thing else that may cause you to waste your summer. Don’t hesitate to be spontaneous and just get up and leave to go to another place. Life is short, live it up.

Sega heard all the good and bad things we had to say about the first part of Sonic 4 and made part 2 better, but it might still be a little off. Along with being the continued saga of Sonic 4 this game has a lot in common with the two Sonic games that came before it. In line with Sonic 2, Tails is now by your side aiding you in your quest. This opens up new game-play that is both familiar and new.

First off, Sega fixed the whole mo-mentum problem episode 1 had. Now both Sonic and Tails feel like they are hit-ting top speed much faster now. There is a story here, but it is light and holds the old school feel of the

Genesis days. Sonic 4 levels are a tad bit bigger than episode 1’s and it’s mainly because of Tails and the new game-play he brings. Sonic 4 has one thing other Sonic games kind of don’t: challenging boss fights…. Which leads to one of the first problems the game has; a few of the bosses are cheap. Now the game is longer the episode 1 but it still is kind of short as a whole. The momentum of Sonic and Tails is better but both of them still feel a little heavy making both of them feel slower at top speed. Tails himself brings good and bad to the table…too bad his flying is one of them, it can kill you more than a few times and this is something you’ll need…a lot

One thing brought from Sonic’s 2 & 3 is multiplayer. Co-op only, this can be played online or offline and I have to say this is fun both ways, as of a matter of fact, this helps the game a lot when you can play though it with a friend. If you were a fan of Ep. 1 but thought it could have been better or just a Sonic fan in general, you should look into this game. I really liked it.

Eco-friendly, Metaphysical, Holistic and Progressive....If any of these words describe you, then you should finish reading this article. Located in the heart of downtown Greenville is a store named the Sojourner. It’s a place you can go to whether you are seeking supplies for a spiritual journey, or if you just want some Incense and a funky-cool bumper sticker. Located across the street from the Tipsy Teapot, they are the only store of their kind here in Greenville. When you visit them you will quickly realize that they are much more than your average retail store. They regularly teach classes on yoga, natural medicines, holistic healing and meditation. They also have a drum circle on the 3rd Friday of every month starting at 6pm.

If you are into the Metaphysical side of things, they have you covered from books to tarot cards. If you like obscure teas, spices, and other such herbs; they have you covered as well. If you are a belly dancer (Giggity) they have clothes and jewelry for what you do. If you are into natural living, you can learn to make soap, lotion and natural medicines. As for me, I go there to get incense along with the occasional funky-cool bumper sticker…...as mentioned above. Always keeping with the community spirit of things, Sojourner and The Tipsy Teapot are teaming up for the “Auc-

tion for Action” on June 10th. This event will entail live music, tarot readings, palm readings, henna body art along with a live auction and a nice spread of hors d’oeuvres. What makes the Sojourner truly unique is that they are a safe haven for anyone that may think outside the spiritual box. As long as you are a good person, no one will judge you or your beliefs while you are there so be sure to stop in and say hi sometime.
