A FEEL GOOD NIGHT FOR GAB!GAB!GALA

On March 20, 2010, GAB! Magazine hosted what has become known as “The Best Party in Bryn Athyn in March” at the Kistner Estate. Many of the biggest names in Bryn Athyn came out for the event, which benefited FeelGood—a non-profit dedicated to ending world

hunger—and party-starved Bryn Athyn socialites.GAB! Gala attendees walked the red carpet, posed for the paparazzi, and danced the night

away. Guests arrived to a barrage of flashing lights as paparazzi clamored to capture the scene. “I could see the flashing of the cameras from a mile away,” said latecomer John Odhner. The whole house was GAB-tastic with pink lighting, pink pillows, pink party cups, pink shag rugs, pink ping-pong balls, pink gift bags, and pink twinkle lights. Upstairs the open-air deck provided space for mingling, and downstairs guests partied to hoppin’ music beneath a disco ball. In honor of FeelGood—which raises money for the Hunger Project by selling grilled cheese sandwiches—the Gala menu included a selection of gourmet grilled cheeses. Guests kicked back in the FeelGood lounge, which had information about the non-profit and, of course, back issues of GAB!

“This benefit event was NOT just about fashion, food, gossip, or who’s who on the celebrity scene,” said organizer Serena Sutton. “And we resent the implication that this event was organized solely to get photos for use in our magazine.” Photo-ops and fantastic raffle prizes rounded out the unbelievable evening. Lauren O’Sullivan helped secure the generous donation of a beautiful pair of diamond earrings, and the Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing donated an overnight stay. Between ticket sales, raffle earnings, and donations the event raised $1,500 for FeelGood!

OH NO, SHE DI’INT!Lynn Ellen King and Megan Allen thought their Vivienne Westwood gowns were unique...until they saw each other at the GAB! Gala! “I pride myself in wearing dresses that are as outrageous as my dance moves,” said Meg. “So obviously I never thought this would happen to me.”

“Vivienne told me this was one of a kind,” complained Lynn Ellen. “I thought about ‘accidentally’ spilling my drink on Meg, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.”

But the tables turned when Meg “clumsily” spilled her drink on Lynn Ellen. Luckily Lynn Ellen wears the same size as her daughters, so she slipped into Connie’s after party dress and danced the rest of the night away.

CRISTACOOPER&IVANASPLUNDHWED ON MOST BEAUTIFUL DAY OF THE YEAR

Crista Cooper and Ivan Asplundh tied the knot September 18, “the most beautiful day of 2010,” according to Linus King, editor of the Bryn Athyn Farmer’s Almanac.

Crista wore a simple yet stunning strapless dress from the J. Crew store in New York City. Her bridesmaids were also in J. Crew dresses, dyed to match Crista’s gorgeous blue eyes. The groom and his men kept it casual in flip-flops.

Wedding guests came from all corners of the globe to attend the nuptials in Bryn Athyn. Attendees hailed from Florida, California, Michigan, Canada, England, Peru, and Turkey.

The handsome couple was wed in Bryn Athyn Cathedral, where Director Jim Adams says Crista and Ivan now hold the record for Largest Number of Children in a Wedding Party.

After the ceremony, over 300 guests flocked to the Philmont Country Club for the reception, where they danced the night away (thanks to father-of-the-groom Reed Asplundh’s instructions that the DJ not say a word).

SISTER,SISTER Crista’s sisters Portia, Sacha, India, and Jency all adore Ivan and are thrilled to have him as their new brother. Amber, Megan, Maren, and Jaylen, Ivan’s sisters, say Crista has always felt like family, anyway!

In the spirit of Jodi Picoult and Anna Quindlen, CHOSEN features a young caseworker increasingly entangled in the lives of the adoptive and birth parents she represents, and who faces life-altering choices when an extortion attempt goes horribly wrong.

It all begins with a fantasy: the caseworker in her “signing paperwork” charcoal suit, paired with beaming parents cradling their adopted newborn, against a fluorescent-lit delivery room backdrop. But when a child goes missing, dreams dissolve into nightmares, and everyone is forced to examine what they really want and where it all went wrong.

DYLAN ODHNERMOST ELIGIBLE BACHELOR

IN THE WORLD

After dating a string of Hollywood’s biggest names, admissions counselor Dylan Odhner has landed in the top spot of a recent

Horse and Hound poll: Who is the most eligible bachelor in the world? Odhner beat out a slew of other high profile, single dudes including Justin Beiber and Shiloh Silverman.

The former Starbucks barista and Sixth Sense extra, 25, pulled in a whopping 29% of the overall vote. Newly single Shiloh Silverman

wasn’t too far behind with 21% of votes. Max Walko, now famous due to his wildly successful appearances on his

sister-in-law’s reality show, Billionaire Yenta, reigned in 15% of the vote. Brent Schnarr snagged 11%, Justin Beiber received 5%, and the Hyatt Brothers (Seth, Derek, and Anders) rounded out the list with 3%, 2%, and 1% respectively.

Odhner, whose long list of exes includes Taylor Swift and Daphne Oz, hasn’t been too lucky in the love department. He’s the only one of

the O-Bros not yet hitched. “His lack of marital experience really comes out when we collaborate on love songs,” says bro Chad Odhner. Though he’s currently unattached, he’s been seen with broadway star Blake Austin and Dancing with the Stars contestant Bristol Palin, but their publicists deny any romantic goings on.

Regardless of his dating status, the counselor has made it clear he doesn’t want people feeling sorry for him. “This whole ‘poor lonely Dylan’ thing is nonsense. I feel great,” insists Dylan. “And my number is 215-713-8206.”

THE RIVALRY CONTINUES! In 1999 Haley Joel Osmond narrowly beat out Dylan Odhner for the lead role in The Sixth Sense. Now, eleven years later, Dylan has been named Most Eligible Bachelor in the World. “This win,” Dylan says, “Is much bigger.” Osmond’s agent declined to comment.

DYLAN ODHNERAlexis Aplundh’s fall

collection met with mixed reviews from critics.

Just like her idol, LC from MTV’s The Hills, socialite Alexis Asplundh left her hometown to study fashion design.

For her fall collection at the Savannah College of Art and Design Fashion Week, Alexis was inspired by BFF Reagan Odhner, who recently graduated from U.S. Marines boot camp at the top of her class. “Or should I say uninspired,” countered Alexis.

“I thought she should be court-marshaled for that frumpy uniform!”

Alexis’ line, Military Bratz, combines better fit, brighter colors, and hotter footwear for an impressive overhaul of boring BDU’s.

Some critics are resistant, saying she’s messing with a classic look. “What was she thinking?” asks celebrity stylist Colin Lutz.

But others are applauding Alexis’ boldness. “Alexis seamlessly mixes glamour with camo,” says Style Magazine’s Lauren Grant. “Fashion journalists have now coined a new term: Glamo.”

Daughters-in-law Hannah, Lisa, Sarah, and Brittany Lermitte are vying for Mama Kaye’s attention. Hannah

thought she had the “Fave Daughter-in-Law” title in the bag. “I was the first wife—isn’t that enough?” said Hannah.

It seems like Hannah knew that wasn’t enough. Hannah and Todd go to Kaye and Jay’s for dinner four nights every week, and that’s not counting double date nights! She also turned down a job with the Philadelphia Eagles so she could continue working at the Development Office—only two floors away from Kaye.

“Hannah’s feeling the pressure,” says Lisa of newest contender Brittany. Not only is Brittany’s husband’s name almost identical to Kaye’s (favorite son, mayhap?), but Brittany is also expecting. And all the girls know Kaye LOVES babies. Lisa and Sarah were also quick to play the baby card, knowing Hannah has a baby phobia. “Lisa and I don’t live in town, so we’re not as much competition,” said Sarah. “Brittany and Kayne are close

by. That plus a baby might turn the tide in their favor.”

“We’re turning up the heat,” said Brittany, patting her baby bump.

Hannah won’t give up easily, though. “I make chicken noodle soup for family dinners all the time. Brittany hates soup,” boasts Hannah.“And Kaye hates chicken,” confides Brittany. “We thought it best not to tell Hannah.”

MUSIC SCENE

Religious rap duo John Odhner and Ray Silverman, known by their fellow rappers as Rev. Joe O

and Coach Sizzleman, are the talk of the town: their debut album “Preach It” is dropping this winter.

“It all began when Ray started beat boxing along with John and Lori songs,” Sizzleman’s wife Star remem-bers, “They realized this is how they could reach the next generation!”

Fans have had to wait longer than expected while the pair worked through some drama with rapper hopeful Greg Rose, aka Airstrike.

The tension was visible in the Doering Center where Sizzleman and Airstrike work on the same hall. After being cut from the Backstreet Boys and 98 De-grees, Airstrike had all but given up on his lifelong dream to be in a boy band. Unfortunately, he kept pushing for a rap rendition of the Gettysburg Address, but Rev. and Sizzleman put the kibosh on it.

“We didn’t want him watering down our

work,” they defended. “The secu-larization of ‘Preach It’ is

not happening on our watch!”Rev. Joe’s wife

Lori was invited to sing back up, but is “at capacity” writ-ing daily Marriage Moats and starring in The Real House-wives of Bryn Athyn.

The album is being pro-duced by Kai Bau-Madsen and will be available for purchase from BATS, the C&S Club, and Club Shantor. The preaching pair’s highly antici-pated single, “Lil’ Lost Lamb,” will be available on iTunes in November.

CARLA BEAN

INTHEWORKSCarla Bean’s new full-

length solo album is being produced by Rubin

Edwards of Bostock Band fame. A source close to the artist claims that, true to Carla’s style, the music will be “crisp and

saucy.” On rumors that Carla has been collaborating with

Norah Jones, Carla commented, “It was an avant-garde

experiment. Since we both sing, we both

play piano, and we both write our own songs, we each performed our own songs un-simultaneously, on different stages, in different venues, and in different states.”

Lori Odhner is proud of

her husband’s success.

Kai Bau-Madsen is producing the album.

MARGUERITE HERDER

IT’SHERTIMEAfter years of paying her musical dues as vocal double for the likes of Mylie Cyrus and Selena Gomez, Marguerite Herder is finally getting her time to shine. This fall she is heading to the studio to record a collaborative album with Justin Bieber. Sources say she still may not be credited with the vocals, but when asked for comment, Marguerite said, “I just love Justin Bieber!”

READE MCCARDELL

GOINGSOLOSince the 2009 breakup of Fresh Cut Salads, Reade McCardell has been lone-wolfing it in the music world. Despite rumors that Reade took the breakup to heart and is considering permanent retirement from the industry, an unconfirmed source told GAB! that Reade’s new album, “Confluence of Eyebrows,” will be debuting in early 2011.

Dear Bananas for BATS,First of all, thank you for coming forward. This is a problem many people suffer from, but there is very little awareness about it.

To actually qualify as a BATS addict, you have to be able to identify with at least five of the following criteria:

None of your silverware matches

You skip lunch every Tuesday so you can be the first to pick through the new selection

You refuse to pay more than $4.00 for an item of clothing

You feel out of place in stores that are not in barns

You catch yourself stuffing bags full to bursting, even when it’s not a $5 bag day, and even when you’re not at BATS

You get that buzz when someone says, “Those pants look so familiar...”

You volunteer just so you can scope out the incoming merchandise

You get noticeably depressed every day at 4:00 pm

You don’t wash your clothes so they keep that thrift store smell
