Working With The Camera

Throughout the whole of our filming, we used a HD camera for a better quality and finish. It was much easier to use compared to the standard DV Camcorder. The battery life lasted much longer and the quality was much more better. However, at first we found it quite hard to work with the camera, as we found that it was complex to use. Eventually we got used to how to work the HD Camera and it became easy to use to create various of camera shots and play with the lighting.

What have you learnt about recording and

editing sound, images and video?

During the whole process of my filming, there are many different types of software and equipment I have learnt to use. This is including Final Cut Express, LiveType and Garage Band. As a group we found that the recording was quite easy to do as we have previously had many opportunities to record in groups such as our preliminary task and practicing to become familiar with the different camera shots. I personally found it quite hard to use garage band in composing the music, however, working as a group and helping each other out, we overcame the problem and managed to use Garage Band successfully. Using Live Type was very easy to use in my opinion, although I can not say the rest of the group will agree. I had no problem in using the programme, and I was able to successfully come out with titles for the thriller.

Used?

Garage Band

We used Garage Band to create our soundtrack to be played over the thriller. I personally found this extremely complex to use, however, we managed to get out non diagetic sound onto out thriller movie. It took us approximately 2weeks to get out final out come of the sound track. We had also amended the soundtrack due to constructive critism from our peer feedback.

Live Type

I found this software particularly easy to work with compared to the other software we used during the process. I automatically become comfortable with using it and became familiar with all the shortcuts and extra effects. Using different transitions and experimenting with the various fonts was a particular strength of mine as I found it was easy to view and clear to find out what to do. The one downfall of using Live Type was that there was not enough fonts to experiment with.

Final Cur Express

Using Final Cut Express, at first, I thought was very hard, however, as I done individual experimenting to get used to it, I gradually found it quite easy to use, I managed to edit, add transitions and cut most of the thriller movie. After a while, I thought it became very easy to use, and I then become very flamboyant on Final Cut Express/

Have You Used Any Digital Effects On Your Sound/Images?

We didn’t use any digital effects on out images or sound as we thought that it wasn’t necessary to do so, we also believed that it would not be ‘fitting’ to our opening scene and story line to out thriller.

What Is The Process You Went Through To Create Your Product?

The first thing our group done was getting all our ideas down for our opening sequence. We watched many clips on YouTube and discussed what we could include in ours. Gradually our ideas came together and we had produced our first story board. To make things easier for us to access together, we made a group thriller blog where we could update posts and any ideas that we have to contribute for out Thriller movie.

What Is The Process You Went Through To Create

Your Product?

We drew out our story board so that it would be easier for us to view and understand what shot we wanted in what order and how we wanted it to be done. We wrote down simple notes next to each of our pictures so that we wouldn’t forget any ideas that we wrote down. Once we knew that our storyboard was complete, we took still images using a camcorder and in sequence uploaded onto Final Cut Express.

Have You Published Your Work On The Internet

We uploaded our final thriller on to you tube to see how many views we would get and within the first few hours of the upload, we received 13 views.

I also uploaded onto Twitter and Blogger so that the public can view and give back feedback, which was very beneficial and constructive to out work
