Gabriel Platica is a native of Romania. He began studying the violin at the age of 6 at the

George Enesco School of music in Bucharest. At 11 Gabriel erformed live on the

Romanian television and at 1! he "on the Bucharest #nterretation contest. He graduatedfrom the Reton School of $usic in %erbyshire& England "here he aeared on a BB'

 broadcast dedicated to his erformance of the (chai)ovs)y violin concerto. He received a

Bachelor degree from the Royal *orthern 'ollege of $usic in $anchester on ascholarshi from Her Royal Highness& (he %utchess of +ent. He holds a $asters %egree

from Southeastern ,niversity in Hammond& -ouisiana and is ursuing in a doctoral

degree at the ,niversity of $innesota. He is the reciient of numerous a"ards&among them the first rie at the %erbyshire /iolin 'ometition in England& and the

$(*A 'ometition at the violin division in -ouisiana. Gabriel "on the

0oseh Gingold a"ard at +entBlossom 2estival in !33! and received the !334

scholarshi from the /irtu foundation. He "as a member of the BournemouthSinfonietta& $emhis Symhony and assistant concertmaster of the South %a)ota

Symhony. He "as also a substitute violinist of the 'hicago Symhony&

$innesota 5rchestra and Saint Paul 'hamber 5rchestra. Gabriel is resently a member

of the -ouisiana Philharmonic.
