Dear Parents and Carers,
First of all I wanted to thank all of the parents, carers, teachers,
support staff and most of all the children for what has been another
fantastic year in the life of Gaddesby Primary School. This year has
been another incredibly busy year with a huge range of school trips
across all year groups, lots of fantastic, well attended events in
school (such as sports day and our music evening), and children
working hard to improve and reach their targets.
I would like to wish all of our leavers good luck for the next stage
of their school lives and I hope that Gaddesby Primary School has
given them a strong footing for future success. It is with a heavy
heart that we see our year 6’s move on but I am certain that they
are ready for secondary school and all of the exciting challenges
ahead.
I hope that all of the families in school have an enjoyable and relax-
ing summer and that the children have lots of opportunity to enjoy
the extended break.
We return to school on August 29th when we will have a brand
new class in foundation stage and a number of new pupils joining
across the school. I look forward to seeing everyone on the morn-
ing of the 29th August for what I am sure will be another exciting,
challenging but most of all rewarding year.

ARTS WEEK
FOGS recently organised a fun-filled arts week for the whole
school. People came into school to share their skills with the chil-
dren, who had lots of fun. Many thanks to FOGS for organising and
financing a very enjoyable week.
The school will re-open on the
morning of Tuesday 29th August
2017.

Summer Fair
EYFS Fathers Day
Polly and I were excited because we
were doing a flute and piano duet. To-
gether, we were also doing singing in the
choir. We sang Drop in the Ocean,
Build it High and One in a Million. We
arrived very early so we saw the family
band rehearsing, they were amazing. The
night turned out to be really good and
that was all down to Miss Lynch.
On the music night people played instru-
ments like the piano and the flute. It was
lovely to hear all the different people play-
ing, the ice cream lady was there because
it was so hot—YUM! After the music
there was a raffle and Harry won some-
thing. It was really fun.

ENTERPRISE DAY
Recently year 6 have had an enterprise day. We had to get ourselves into
small groups and organise stalls and activities in order to raise money. There
were cake stalls, Nerf shoot out, car racing, sponge the teacher (thanks Mrs
Dewick and Mr Thomas!) and football skill challenges. We raised over £350
to go to on a leaver’s trip; Mr Thomas arranged a visit to Holme Pierrepont
Country Park, where we would be doing several fun activities. Some of the
year fives helped run the stalls and even took over from the year 6 when we
went for our lunch. Thank you to everyone who donated, we couldn’t have
done it without you!!

Sports Day
We did lots of different sports on sports day like throwing
the javelin, golf, sack races, football and egg & spoon. You
had to get round the cone and back to earn a point. Jess
Ennis Hill won the trophy this year.
At the music evening the choir
sang and people played their
instruments. Our families
came and brought picnics.
There was also a raffle. The
ice cream cart was there and
the ice creams were so nice. It
turned out to be a fantastic
night and everyone enjoyed it.

This is what the children thought
about the Music Showcase:
Shakespeare Rocks
KS2 have been busy working on the play, Shakespeare Rocks. Their performances were on Tuesday 27th June and Wednesday 28th June. All the children tried their best and it was very funny and enjoyable. All of the parents who came to watch thought it was brilliant! Bridie, who played the role of William Shakespeare wife, said “My favourite part was showing it to all the parents.” Matilda, who played the role of one of the narrators (Al), said “I enjoyed acting and I liked helping make the props.” Thank-you to all in-volved: teachers, all of KS2 and parents for making the costumes and coming to watch. Castleton Residential
When we arrived at Castleton
we had our lunch and then two
groups went canoeing and the
other two groups went to paly
team work games. On the sec-
ond day we went to a cave
(Treak Cliff) and we polished
some Blue John –0 we got to
keep it too. The others did
archery and a scavenger hunt.
On the final day we did shelter
building a making fires. On the
way home the bus broke down
so we got to play at the service
station for half an hour.

Year 6 Leavers
This time always rushes upon us and is a one of mixed emotions. Not only do the Year 6 reflect back on another successful year but they look back on their Primary school experience. Whether they have been at Gaddesby for only a few years, or for all seven, there will be many fond memories to cherish. Year 6 will be sharing these memories to their families on Friday the 14th of July at the leavers’ assembly. I’d like to wish them all the best in their future endeavours
and every possible success. Mr Thomas
Just some of the great new
sports equipment that we have
been able to purchase thanks to
a very generous donation from
FOGS.
Shakespeare Rocks was on 27th
and 28th June. It was great fun.
Year 3 and 4 mainly did singing
but some year 4’s got speaking
parts too. Charlie L was Will
Shakespeare.
School Council
School council is the
opportunity for children
to run the Friday assem-
blies. Every term we
switch councillors and
we choose those by vot-
ing. Sometimes you
don’t get into the coun-
cil but keep trying. It’s
really fun. Max, Sam
