Accessibility:The Gadsden Elementar$ School media center is accessible to both indi,idual
students and !roups throu!hout the instructional da$. The normal hours of operation
are from -//01//. 2lease do not send students an$ later than 345. "ll students 6ill
be sent to class b$ 345 in order to return to class and prepare to lea,e for home.
The media center functions on a flexible schedule. Teachers ma$ send up to t6o
students at a time 6ithout prior notice. Students must brin! their librar$ cards. "n
entire class ma$ be scheduled for stor$ time7 librar$ skills or research. Class ,isits
must in,ol,e the acti,e participation of the classroom teacher.

selection or team0teachin!. *f an entire class is comin! to the media center7 the
teacher and media specialist must cooperati,el$ plan and schedule an
appropriate time and date for the class. Students should not return books or
check out books more than once per da$.

Media Center Materials:
*n addition to books for student checkout7 the media center houses audio ,isual
materials7 e(uipment7 ma!aBines7 le,eled readers and professional materials for
teacher checkout.
Circ"lation:
inder!arten and first !rade students are permitted to check out one book at a
time. Second !rade students ma$ check out t6o books. Third7 fourth and fifth
!rade students are permitted to check out t6o books.
;ooks are checked out for a period of t6o 6eeks 6ith the option of rene6in! thebook for t6o additional 6eeks. "ll returned books should be placed in the drop
box located beside the circulation desk. *t is ,er$ important that students return
books to the drop box for check in. This 6ill ensure their records remain current
and correct. Students are not allo6ed to check out if the$ ha,e o,erdue books.
Students are re(uired to pa$ for lost or dama!ed books. #eport cards are held
at the end of the $ear if char!es are not cleared.
