Tom Reilly; producer, seller and rider of showjumping horses

“While I was studying at Brackenhurst I was given the opportunity to take a week’s work experienceat Billy Twomey’s international showjumping yard. It gave me the opportunity to use the skills Ihad learnt at college in a professional workplace. After completing my work placement I wasoffered a full-time job with Billy, where I stayed for around two years before carrying on my careeras a rider. I am now producing and selling showjumping horses for top-level riders andcompetitions. I could not have done this without the help and support that Brackenhurst gave mein my time there – the experience has been invaluable.”

Evie Llwellyn-Smith, progressed to BSc (Hons) Equine Sports Science

“I am currently a student at Brackenhurst studying Equine Sports Science. Prior to this I was on theFurther Education Horse Management course and graduated with a DDD*** grade, which isequivalent to 3 A*s at A-level. During my time on the Horse Management course, I completed awork experience module where I went on one week’s placement for each year of the course, andthis gave me the valuable experience within the industry that so many jobs demand today. My firstwork experience led to me obtaining a role starting young horses at a dressage yard, which I wasable to do around my time studying on the course. It has set me up with valuable skills andunderstanding in order to progress onto higher education and the equine industry. I wouldwholeheartedly recommend the further education courses at Brackenhurst Campus!”
