2018 SCHEDULE GAME DAY 360
0-5 Overall; 0-2 Suburban League
We talk about it being an all-the-time thing, not when it
is comfortable or convenient. What kind of player do
you want to be? What kind of impact do you want to
have on the program?
Twinsburg
PCE
P
The three letters "PCE" is a cultural blueprint that Twinsburg
coach Mike Bell wants his program to follow each day.
Playing the game with passion, being a great
teammate, doing everything with passion.
C
Everyone has dreams of being great, but to actually go
out and make it happen through hard work is something
we strive for. It has to do with effort.
“The nice thing is individually we control all of those
things in PCE,” Bell said.

TRACKING THE TIGERS
Game #6 • Friday, September 28, 2018 • Bees Stadium • 7:00 PM kickoff
Brecksville
TIGERS
Twinsburg is back on the road for a second straight week looking for a third straight win as the Tigers head to Brecksville-Broadview Heights to face the winless Bees.
BBH (0-5) has been outscored, 192-72, this season and is coming off a 44-31 loss to Cuyahoga Falls.
Twinsburg comes into the game with a two-game winning streak, the most recent being a 28-21 road win at North Royalton. QB Adam Van de Motter bounced back to have a big week against the Bears. MJ Johnson, Max Brazie and Jameel Banks are all dangerous offensive weapons for the Tigers.
Rashad Jones- Land continues to be a force on defense. Dominic Glenn is coming off a big game for Twinsburg. Gilbert Campbell has made big plays on defense for the Tigers this season.
Twinsburg is fighting for a postseason spot in the very competitive Division II, Region 5, so the Tigers can't afford any slip ups regardless of the opponent. Particularly with Wadsworth and Nordonia still waiting on the schedule.
BELL RINGING - Tigers Head Coach Mike Bell discusses last week's game against North
Royalton and the upcoming week 6 game vs Brecksville
I'm incredibly proud of the young men in this program. They focused on their preparation last week and went out and played really well on Friday night against a very good North Royalton team. Everyone played a role in our victory, it was exciting to see."
"This week we must continue the trend we began last week and that is to focus on our preparation to make sure we continue improving as players, units, and as a team. Brecksville-Broadview Heights is a team that has shown steady improvement and I expect their best effort on Friday. Each player on our roster needs to continue acquiring the skills necessary for success and to retain the knowledge of scheme and game planning that results in positive outcomes for us."

Twinsburg won its second consecutive game and moved over .500 on the year with a 28-21 road win at North Royalton on Sept. 21.
"I'm incredibly proud of the young men in this program," Twinsburg coach Mike Bell said. "They focused on their preparation last week and went out and played really well on Friday night against a very good North Royalton team. Everyone played a role in our victory, it was exciting to see."
Adam Van de Motter was named the offensive player of the game for the Tigers (3-2).
Dominic Glenn earned the honor on defense.
Ethan Wolhwend was recognized for his work on special teams.
Twinsburg goes for three straight wins when the Tigers travel to Brecksville-Broadview Heights on Sept. 28.
"This week we must continue the trend we began last week and that is to focus on our preparation to make sure we continue improving as players, units, and as a team. Brecksville-Broadview Heights is a team that has shown steady improvement and I expect their best effort on Friday," Bell said.
"Each player on our roster needs to continue acquiring the skills necessary for success and to retain the knowledge of scheme and game planning that results in positive outcomes for us."
1983 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
It’s been 35 seasons since the Brecksville Bees won the school’s only state championship in football. The Tom Tupa-led Bees defeated Celina 12-6 to win the OHSAA Division II state title in 1983.
Coach Joe Vadini led his Bees into Ohio Stadium that year with a perfect 13-0 record. The Bees fell behind early 6-0, but began their comeback with the use of a trick play.
The Bees executed a perfect ‘hook and ladder’ play for a 59-yard touchdown just before halftime. Tupa connected with Brian Cook near the Celina 40 yard line, who then flipped the ball a sprinting Kevin Good who raced the remaining 42 yards for the score.
The defense would record a safety in the second half and Tupa would seal the win with a 42-yard field goal into the closed end of Ohio Stadium.
Tupa signed with Ohio State and was the Buckeyes starting quarterback in the 1987 season. He threw for over 2,200 yards and was selected as an All American as a punter
Tupa would go on to play in the NFL, being selected as a quarterback in the third round by the then Phoenix Cardinals. He spent 18 seasons in the NFL, mainly as a punter and back-up quarterback.
He won a Super Bowl championship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002 and was the first player in NFL history to score a two-point conversion, running in a faked extra point kick attempt for the Browns in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the first week of the 1994 season.
CHAMPIONSHIP STREAKS IN ANOTHER SPORT
In March, the Brecksville Bees girls gymnastics team claimed its 15th-straight state team title at the 2018 OHSAA Gymnastics State Tournament. The Bees have now won 17 of the last 19 state titles and have finished in the top three every year since 1999.

Mike Bell is in his fourth year as coach of the Tigers and is looking to build on his past successes, bringing winning football back to Twinsburg.
Prior to coming to Twinsburg, Bell served one year as the head coach at Eastlake North and had a very successful 12-year run as head coach at Lake Catholic in Mentor.
In 12 seasons at Lake Catholic, the Cougars won 6 NCL Championships, qualified for the state playoffs 8 times (playoff record of 17-8) with 5 Regional Title appearances (2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010) and 3 state semifinal appearances (2007, 2009, and 2010).
Prior to 2002, Bell served as the Cougars' defensive coordinator for three seasons, winning the Division III State Championship in 2001.
Prior to coaching at Lake Catholic, Bell spent three years at Willoughby South as a position coach and defensive coordinator, four years at Maple Heights, and two seasons at his alma mater Pymatuning Valley.
The first step toward creating an improved future is developing the ability to envision it.
VISION will ignite the fire of passion, which fuels our commitment to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to achieve excellence.
Only VISION allows us to transform dreams of greatness into the reality of achievement through human action.
VISION has no boundaries and knows no limit.
Our VISION is what we become in life.

Aaron Shaffer - Linebackers Coach
Twinsburg coach Mike Bell has always been a strong believer in building a program and not just simply a football team that competes on Friday night.
Part of that is the involvement of those outside of the players and coaches, including the administration, the community and perhaps most importantly, the football parents.Bell said the Tigers are extremely lucky to have the support of The Gridiron Club at Twinsburg and he doesn’t take it for granted.
“It starts with our administration doing a great job getting our young men the equipment and necessities for the game, but when you think about all the extras to make us a first-class program that is where the Gridiron Club comes in and really helps us,” Bell said.
“There are a million ways for parents to get involved and I always encourage parents to get involved and do what they can because it doesn’t last forever at the high school level obviously. The years go fast.”
The Gridiron Club is an organization of football parents in grades 7 through 12. There is no fee to join and all members of the community are welcome to attend meetings. The Club meets the second Monday of the month at Twinsburg High School. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. All of the fundraising is run through Twinsburg Athletic Boosters.
The Gridiron Club raises funds to help support the team off the turf. From purchasing a new sound system for the locker room to feeding the boys on Friday nights and scrimmages, purchasing football gear such as t-shirts and cinch bags, senior gifts and hosting the end of year banquet. These events are important in developing a sense of unity and pride in the program.
Twinsburg Tiger Stadium is one of the most used athletic facilities in Northeast Ohio. Twinsburg officials say Tiger Stadium's field gets used upwards of 950 times each year for various athletic events and practices -- from football, to soccer, to regional sporting events.
In the summer of 2015, the Stadium received a major upgrade to the playing surface. New field turf was installed featuring a unique blue border and a large Tiger logo at midfield. The 'grass' has a “paneled” look of lighter and darker green shades every five yards replacing the carpet that was installed in 2005.
Tiger Stadium has become a perennial site for OHSAA football playoff games, hosting two games last year - the Division I Region 1 Semifinal (St Edward vs Stow) and the Division II Region 5 Final (Hudson and Warren Harding)

1 - Why did you decide to get into coaching after your playing days were over?
I decided to go into coaching because I love the game. I always told myself if I wasn’t playing I would want to be a football coach or be associated with sports in general
2 - What does it mean to you to be on staff at your alma mater?
It means a lot to be on the staff of my Alma Mater. I never would’ve thought I’d have the opportunity to coach for Twinsburg or be in this position today, but i am happy and grateful to be involved.
3 - Is it harder to be a coach as opposed to a player because you can't physically affect the outcome of the game?
I would say Yes it is harder to coach, coming up with game plans and putting players in the right position to succeed can be tough sometimes. Often times you’ll have a plan and think that it is brilliant and it may fail miserably, but that’s what comes with the sport and that’s how you grow and improve your coaching skills. It would be easier to go out and help them win physically than to coach.
4 - What is your favorite part of Friday night and do you have any rituals or superstitions?
My favorite part about Friday’s would be being on the field during the game and interacting with the players! There is nothing in the world like that energy that you will feel down on the turf on a Friday night coaching your guys up, communicating, and celebrating when big plays are being made.

SEPTEMBER 28, 1920: Eight players for the Chicago White Sox were indicted, charged with complicity in a conspiracy with gamblers to "fix" the 1919 World Series. The indictments came as a result of testimony from Charles A. Comiskey, owner of the White Sox, and confessions by two of the players as how the world's championship was thrown to the Cincinnati Reds and how they had receivedmoney or were "double-crossed" by the gamblers.
The eight players indicted include 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson and George 'Buck' Weaver. Other players included Eddie Cicotte (SP), Oscar 'Happy' Felsch (CF), Charles 'Swede' Risberg (SS), Arnold Gandil (1B), Claude 'Lefty' Williams (SP) and Fred McMullen (Utl).
Comiskey immediately suspended all eight players and blamed them for the White Sox failing to overtake the Cleveland Indians for the 1920 American League pennant. In June, 1921, all eight players were acquitted because key pieces of evidence went missing and not presented to the jury. Despite the acquittals, recently appointed Commissioner, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, immediately banned theplayers from professional baseball.
