SWATTING DINGERS RIGHT AND LEFT: The Riders got two-homer performances from Andretty Cordero and Eliezer Alva-rez, as they overcame an early deficity to win 12-4. Cordero finished with a career-best seven RBIs, and Alvarez added a triple to go with his two roundtrippers.
WINNING MOOD AGAINST HOOKS: With last night’s victory, the RoughRiders have won 13 of their last 15 meetings with Corpus Christi. Prior to the current surge, Frisco had dropped 26 of its past 35 battles with the Astros affiliate.
EN FUEGO AT THE PLATE: After scoring just nine runs in the first four games, the Riders have erupted for 23 runs the last two nights and have hit six homers. Frisco has the second-best average in the league (.253) and also is second in homers (8). The team’s 34 strikeouts are the fewest in the league, 21 below the next closest team (Arkansas).
ELECTRIC HEART OF THE ORDER: The trio of Charles Leblanc, Preston Beck and Tony Sanchez is off to a tremendous start in 2019, combining to hit .375 (21-for-56) with three homers and 12 RBIs. • Beck has three homers, including two Monday night.• Leblanc has posted multiple hits in four of his first five outings.• Sanchez has hit safely in all four games he’s played.
PITCHING IN: The Riders currently possess the league’s second-lowest ERA (2.28) and have held opponents to a .214 aver-age. The Riders have been extra impressive in containing threats, holding opponents to a .121 (7-for-58) mark with runners in scoring position while stranding 49 runners.
