In December, we’ll connect to the World War II Museum in New Orleans to learn more about D-Day.

If you are looking for something for children to do, a new weekly program, Math Matters, will provide a fun experience and a chance to

Book CornerFall is here and with it comes a bushel full of celebrity memoirs. The big title so far is Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run, which is getting a lot of attention. I liked Jennifer Weiner’s Hungry Heart, a very personal and heart-felt collection of essays about her life and writing. Netflix’s Gilmore Girls reboot will bring more attention to Lauren Graham’s Talking As Fast As I Can. Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick has a collec-tion of autobiographical essays called Scrappy Little Nobody. Taraji P. Henson, currently star-ring in Fox’s Empire and soon to be seen in Hidden Figures, has a memoir called Around the Way Girl. Any HGTV fans? There are also some recent memoirs by some of the network’s biggest stars: The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines and Better Than New by Nicole Curtis. On the musician side, we have memoirs by Phil Collins, Not Dead Yet; Carole Bayer Sager, They’re Playing Our Song; Lil Wayne, Gone ‘Til November; Brian Wilson, I Am Brian Wilson; and Mike Love, Good Vibrations.

Speaking of musicians, congratulations to Bob Dylan, the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate. He was given the award “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition” (Nobelprize.org). We have many of his music cds available for check out, including his most recent release, Fallen

Angels, a collection of standards. In addition, we have the most recent edition of his lyrics compilation, Lyrics, 1961-2012. If you would like to know the story behind his songs, try Bob Dylan: All the Songs: The Story Behind Every Track by Philippe Margotin and Jean-Michel Guesdon.

The November LibraryReads list is loaded with great titles. There are new books by Alice Hoffman, Wally Lamb, Zadie Smith, and Michael Chabon. I’m really looking forward to the new Jack Reacher title by Lee Child, Night School. This one focuses on an event in Reacher’s past in 1996. I loved Jayne Ann Krentz’s When All the Girls Have Gone; she really is a master of romantic suspense and this title seems to set

up a trilogy—I can’t wait for the other two. Finally, Erika Johansen wraps up her Queen of the Tearling series with The Fate of the Tearling. I loved the first book and need to catch up with the second one as well—a binge opportunity!

You can see the rest of the list below and can always find all the LibraryReads selections at libraryreads.org.

Please take a look at the back page of the ChroniCLe to see more forthcoming books.
