3.Chelsea suffered serious financial troubles during the 1970s and 1980s

following a large-scale attempt to renovate Stamford Bridge. The financialcrisis and a subsequent change of ownership at the club culminated in thesale of the Stamford Bridge freehold to property developers Marler Estates(and subsequently Cabra Estates). The move almost saw Chelsea lose thestadium.

The future of the stadium (and hence the club) was only secured in 1992, whenthe property developers were bankrupted by a market crash, allowing thethen-chairman Ken Bates to do a deal with their bankers and to regaincontrol of the stadium for the football club.

An independent group was then formed to protect the interests and theproperty of Chelsea Football Club.

But this development has turned out to be a bane to Chelsea's plans of shiftingto a stadium of higher capacity.

opponent players either by physical play or verbally. X employ legal, illegal,

or borderline tactics to accomplish their goals. Some common tactics include

trash talk or slashing and hooking while referees are not looking. Also, they

may sometimes employ the tactic of goading opponents into a fight but then

backing off in order to draw a penalty against them. Some X may not only

use these tactics against opposing skaters, but opposing goaltenders as

He said It is from my days in Spain,. When I was at Celta Vigo in the

second division, we played Granada and I missed a penalty. Granada

went up that season to the top league, and then I moved to Rayo

Vallecano who were also in the top division. In the warm up to that

game I could hear the Granada fans shouting Hey X, please take a

penalty today. But the game finished 1-0 in our favour and I scored

the only goal. So when I scored, I just put my hand to my ear andlistened to the Granada support, but they were quiet. It was just a bit

of harmless fun with the Granada fans. Of course, now I am at

______, but I still like to do the celebration because it reminds me of

my journey here.

"There is a mystery behind the 7-1 debacle in the 1982 Asiad hockey final

which still haunts me. It can be dismissed as fanciful, but I still have niggling

doubts, and I feel I should share it with the reader.

There was this man called Iqbal, who always used to accompany the Pakistani

hockey team wherever they played - Lahore, Dubai and Bombay during the

1981-82 World Cup. Iqbal was also in Delhi for the 1982 Asiad, and was

supposed to be a master of mass hypnotism.

I was amazed to see Iqbal at National Stadium a day before the 1982 AsianGames men's hockey final. He was in the stands and came forward to say

hello and extended his hand. I automatically shook his hand as one would

do when people come over to greet you. I got a strange feeling, as if a spell

had been cast over me. I was not my normal self till the final ended.

I did not take this fleeting handshake with Iqbal seriously. It was only later when

I looked back that I realised that India's dismal show in the final, the frothing

in my mouth during the final, and the players' sluggish movements in the

field could all be related to something beyond hockey. I never saw Iqbal

again after being dropped from the Indian team.
