What is the GM of 12, 23, 32 (in approximate) ?

GM = Geometric Mean Let us multiply these 12*23*32 We get = 8832. Let us not find a number ,which can give

cubic value nearby 8832. The nearby number is 20.5 answer. 20.5 *20.5 *20.5 will give us 8615 (so

nearby answer).

Find GM of 10, 20, 30 (in approximate) ?

Let us multiply these numbers 10 * 20 * 30 = 6000 Now let us find the number which can

give cubic value nearby 6000. =18*18*18, which give us 5832, so

nearby value is 18.173 answer.

Page 5: Game Theory & Linear Programming

What is the HM of 20 and 30?

Let us take 1/20 and 1/30 Let us add these two numbers. We get 50 / 600 Let us multiply this number by ½ (because

there are two numbers). We get 50 / 1200. Now let us reverse it. We get 1200 / 50 = 24 answer.

Page 6: Game Theory & Linear Programming

What is the HM of 10, 20 and 30?

Let us add 1/10 + 1/20 + 1/30. We get 60 as LCM of 10,20,30. we get

(6+3+2) / 60 or 11/60. Now, we have to multiply it by 1/3 (because there are 3 numbers). We get 11/180

Now reverse it 180 / 11 = 16.36 answer.

What is GM, if HM is 23 and AM is 25?

GM = Geometric Mean HM = Harmonic mean AM = arithematic mean GM is square root of HM * AM = square root of (23 * 25)

= square root of (575)

=23.97 answer.

What is the standard deviation of 5 digits 2,5,6,3,7?

First let us find mean of these numbers. Total is 23. let us divide this by 5. we get 4.6 as average. Let us take differences of all these numbers from 4.6 and let us square the differences. The differences are - 2.6, .4, -1.6, 1.4 and 2.4. When we square these, we get 17.2 as the total. Now divide this by 5 (because there are 5 numbers). = 3.44. now let us take square root of 3.44. we get 1.85 (answer).

Page 9: Game Theory & Linear Programming

www.afterschoool.tk AFTERSCHOOOL MATERIAL FOR PGPSE PARTICIPANTS

What is the standard deviation of 2,5, 8 10?

Step 1. calculate their average. Average is 6.25.

Step 2: calculate difference of these numbers from their average. Let us square the differences. Add up all the squares of the differences. We get 36.75

Step 3: let us divide this number by 4. we get 9.19.

Step 4: let us take square root of this number, we get 3.03 as answer.

Page 10: Game Theory & Linear Programming

www.afterschoool.tk AFTERSCHOOOL MATERIAL FOR PGPSE PARTICIPANTS

What is standard deviation of 5,6,9,12?

Step 1. let us take average of these 4 numbers. We get 8.

Step 2: let us take difference of all these values from 8 and square the difference and add up these (we get 30). Divide this sum by 4 (we get 7.5) and then we shall take square root of that number. (we get 2.74)

Step 3: 2.74 is the standard deviation.

Page 11: Game Theory & Linear Programming

Find the variance of 4,8,9,11?

Step 1. Let us take average of 4,8,9,11. We get 8 Step 2: let us take difference of these

numbers from their average. Step 3. Let us square up the differences. Step 4 Let us add up the difference. Step 5: let us divide this sum by 4 (because

there are 4 numbers). Answer = 6.5

Page 12: Game Theory & Linear Programming

www.afterschoool.tk AFTERSCHOOOL MATERIAL FOR PGPSE PARTICIPANTS

Find the standard deviation of 4,8,9,11?

We have already calculated variance. Standard deviation = square root of

variance. Thus square root of 6.5 = 2.54 answer.

Find out covariance of 2,3,5,8 and 8,4,2,1?

Step 1. calculate their averages. 4.5 & 3.75 Step 2: find the difference of each value

from their average. (call it Dx and Dy)Step 3: multiply Dx and Dy. Sum up this.

Divide this by N (find simple average of DxDy).

Answer : - 5.375 answer.
