Gamification of shopping

We all hate grocery shopping!

What if it were a game?

What I suggest could…

*increase store profitability,

*build customer loyalty, and

*Help promote healthy eating habits.

*How does it work?

Lets look at shopping carts first

*Shopping carts would be equipped like the self checkouts that we have all seen.

*Each cart has a scale in the bottom of the basket.

*A touch screen user interface and item scanner near push handle.

*Bag holders on the sides of each cart.

The game*Employ the use of badges for smart and

healthy purchases

*Use of progress bar to track spending at store for customer loyalty

*Progress bar is also used to determine discount on certain items. The more full the bar the bigger the discount on select items.

*Show leaderboards at store for best nutrition to junk food ratio.

Fortunate side effects

*The store model I envision would be able to use each cart as a self checkout.

*No more waiting in line for anything.

*After you have scanned and bagged the item at your own cart as you shopped you just swipe your debit/credit card on your way out.

*The game would increase spending and hopefully on more healthy items.
