DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU SUNDAY, JULY 19, 2015 (PAGE 3) Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath taken out with religious fervour Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, July 18: A color- ful and mesmerizing Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath was taken out here today from MA Stadium with religious fervor amid tight security. The Yatra after passing through various parts of the city culminated at Shiv Temple near main Tawi Bridge. The Yatra was flagged off by State BJP vice-president and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma and organized by Shree Jagannath Rath Yatra Sanstha, Jammu. Thousands of devotees including men, women and children from different walks of life participated in the Yatra and chanted names of the Lord Jagannath. The Rath Yatra started with magnanimous welcome of Lordships Shree Shree Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra Devi placed on the chariot decorated with flowers. The devotees, enroute were dancing and reciting Bhajans in praise of Lord Jagannath. Sweets, water and fruits were also served to the devotees who participated in Yatra. There was virtually a mad rush of the devotees at every point of the city to have a glimpse of the Lord Jagannath. After passing through various parts of the City of Temples, the Ratha Yatra finally culminated in the evening at Shiv Temple near main Tawi Bridge, where a mass Bhandara was organized for the devotees. Earlier, while flagging off the Yatra, Sat Sharma (CA) said that Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra is an essential part of the ritual of the Hindu system of worship and being unique among all Yatras, it is the grandest festival of the supreme divinity. He said that the presence of thousands of people shows their devotion which has cre- ated a beautiful atmosphere in the city. He said earlier the Yatra was taken out in Jagannath Puri, Odisha but now almost every part of the country observes it and the Yatra is taken out everywhere. Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, July 18: Like other parts of the country Eid-ul-Fitr marking the culmination of fasting month of Ramdhan was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety across the Jammu region today. All the mosques were fully decorated and markets witnessed huge rush of people purchasing sweets, gifts, clothes and exchang- ing Eid greetings with each other. There was huge rush of people in city ,mosques and Eidgah to offer Eid prayers this morning. The biggest religious congrega- tion held at Eidgah Residency Road where thousands of Muslims offered Eid-ul-Fitr Nimaz. The members of Muslim com- munity attired in white dress were seen from the morning exchanging Eid greetings to each other and members of other communities. The children were busy in getting Eidi from their elders. Though all ministers celebrated Eid in Kashmir Valley, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir offered Eid prayers here at Malik Market Narwal. He also extended Eid greetings to the people on the occa- sion. Later talking to media Mir said ``Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the cul- mination of holy month of Ramzan teaches us self control which in turn makes us good human beings''. He said ``let us pray that this festival brings the State out of present mess so that its old glory is restored and people live in complete peace and harmony''. The Muslims also exchanged wishes, sweets and gifts with peo- ple from all walks of life on the occasion. Elaborate arrangements were made by the administration for cel- ebration of Eid-ul-Fitr festival across the Jammu division. Meanwhile the reports of Eid- ul-Fitr celebrations also poured from different parts of the Region. In Ramban district, all the mosques were fully decorated suiting the occasion and markets witnessed festive look. The main congrega- tion took place at Jamia Masjid Sharif where thousands of devotees performed Nimaz-e-Eid. The Eid Namaz was also offered at various mosques of the town and its out- skirts including, Chandrog, Maitra and Upper Ramban and Muslims prayed for peace, development and prosperity of the people of State and nation. The SSP, Ramban Randeep Kumar along with officers of dis- trict administration felicitated the Muslim brethren and exchanges Eid greetings. Eid was also celebrated at Rajouri, Poonch, Mendhar, Koteranka, Budhal, Dharhal, Thanamandi, Manjakote, Surankote, Mendhar, Kalakote, Reasi, Gool Arnas, Kathua, Bani, Billawar and Basohli, Udhampur and Banihal , Doda, Kishtwar and Bhadarwah today. The Minister, while exchang- ing warm greetings with the Muslims at Sarore Adda, Taile Basti, Barjani, Shah Talab, Badori Idgahs and other mosques expressed optimism that the day would further cement the bonds of love and amity among the peo- ple of all faiths. He said that such pious occasions provide us an opportunity to introspect and pure our thoughts and deeds enabling us create a better world to live in. MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, other senior functionaries of civil and police administration were also present on the occasion and exchanged Eid-ul Fitr greetings with Muslim brethren at Eidgah Jammu and prayed for peace and tranquility in the State. Ganga, PCC chief, others extend Eid greetings Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervor across Jammu region Excelsior Correspondent DODA, July 18: Within three days of launching of Skill India Development Programme by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in Union Capital on July 15, Doda became the first district in J&K where Skill Development pro- gramme was launched by Union Minister in PMO with independ- ent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh in col- laboration with voluntary group and skill development agency today. Earlier Udhampur had become the first district in J&K where Digital India programme was launched by Dr Jitendra Singh within three days of its launch by Prime Minister in New Delhi. Minister of State for R&B and Revenue, Sunil Sharma, BJP MLAs from Doda and Bhadarwah Assembly segments, Shakti Parihar and Dilip Parihar and DC Doda, Dheeraj Kumar besides the representatives of the voluntary group and Skill Development Agency attended the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh, said that in the emerging scenario on the one hand unemployment is rapidly on the rise and on the other hand after attaining high degrees the youth are unable to find a job hence skill training is essential to enable a youth to find a job. Terming Narendra Modi a visionary Prime Minister, he said the launch of Skill Development Progamme is a very good initiative taken by him as Government can't provide job to every one. He said the Doda became the first district in the State to have this new initiative. Dr Singh said the first phase of programme will involve certi- fied training in land surveys because this is the area for which young experts are sought by com- panies to work in Hydraulic and other projects. Instead of involv- ing youth from the other parts of the country, the multinational companies will have an opportu- nity to find local youth for these jobs, he added. Dr Singh said this will not only generate employment for local youth at their home district but will also introduce the youth to the other parts of the country. The cost of training will be borne entirely by agency which has undertaken the training pro- gramme, he added. He said the training will involve one month of preliminary course in Hyderabad, AP which will be followed by three to six months training in the same sub- ject. The entire boarding and lodging will also be borne by training agency, he added. Dr Singh said that after the completion of the course the skilled youth will not only be able to work in various projects in erstwhile Doda district but in similar projects in other parts of the country. These youth will be able to deal with various other instruments involved in satellite mapping, he added. ``We will soon involve Department of Space Technology Government of India (GoI) to supplement this training course because it involves land mapping by using latest satellite technolo- gy'', he said, adding ``the support will also be solicited by Union Ministry of Skill Development for which I have already taken up the issue with Rajiv Partap Rudy, Union Minister of State with independent charge of Skill Development''. Dr Jitendra Singh said that as an MP from Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha Constituency which has six districts, it has been his endeavour to start such ventures in each of the district. Elaborating he said the Bio Technological Park and Inter State bridge in Kathua, first introduction of digi- talization in governance in dis- trict administration at Udhampur which became first district to have introduced digitalization under the digitalization pro- gramme. He said likewise Reasi became first district to have weather forecasting system at Sanji Chhat Katra while Basohli in Kathua district took the lead in the State to introduce Arogya Gram Yojna for cultivation of Medicinal plants. On the same line Doda will become first dis- trict in the State where the Skill Development programme was launched, he added. Dr Singh said this programme received wide response with large number of youth thronging the venue to get enrolled for the train- ing. Besides, Members of the Airport Advisory Committee the meeting was also attended by the former Minister and MLA, Leh, Nawang Rigzin Jora. Several issues related to the security, welfare of passengers and expansion of Airport were discussed in detail. The meet- ing was informed that passen- ger traffic handled at Leh Airport during the year 2014- 15 was around 4 lakh which is approximately 15 per cent increase as compared to the previous year. It was further informed that in view of the increased influx of traffic, a new terminal building is required. The point of land transfer from IAF to AAI was the issue of main focus for which both the authorities consented for transfer of land for expanding the facilities.
