2017 Club Members of the Year announced

It’s time to start working on your handmade items to sell in the Country Store at the Arts & Crafts Fair!

All members (and spouses) can bring items to sell and there is no limit on the number of items you have. Selling in the Country Store is a good way to get to know EHC members from other clubs and we always have a good time. You might even make enough money to buy some more craft supplies! The deadline for registration is September 30th. For more information, contact Katy Weaver at 501-767- 2620 or [email protected].

The Pennies for Friendship that we collected at the Summer Council Meeting will go to ACWW, which stands for the Associated Country Women of the World. It is the largest international organization of rural women and homemakers, currently representing millions through the linking of over 376 country women’s clubs and societies in 64 countries. It has consultative, non-governmental status with certain United Nations agencies, and has a down to earth approach in promoting international goodwill and offering practical help to its members. Through projects in rural communities, ACWW aims to improve the standard of living for all women and their families in: health and nutrition, housing and fresh water supply, literacy, small-scale agricultural and income-generating schemes, and leadership training that encourage women to play a full part in the development of their communities.

He has international recognition as a rice pathologist. He was raised on a farm in Stone County and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a PhD in Plant Pathology at the University of California-Davis.

Restaurant/Food Establishment Inspection At the recent kitchen training, Wilma Blair discussed that on the Arkansas Department of Health Food Establishment Inspection's website, foodserviceprod.adharkansas.gov, you can to find the latest inspection reports on all your favorite food establishments. The Food Protection Program of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) inspects all food establishments in the state to make sure they follow ADH Food Establishment Rules & Regulations. Inspections are conducted 1-3 times per year depending upon the Risk Category of the establishment. Additional inspections occur to follow-up on violations and if/when the ADH receives a complaint. The regulations are written to ensure food is prepared, stored, and served safely, which in turn may prevent food borne illness. From the Inspection Report, you can see if the establishment is following the food safety regulations.

Park Heights Here is a picture of lap quilts in various sizes that were made by Park/Heights members and then delivered to UAMS Hospital. Peggy Barnett is shown modeling one of the lap quilts, along with Sally Patterson and Joan Kuhns. A total of twenty-six quilts were donated. –Sally Patterson
