Vietnam ExperienceMr. Garlock was a cobra helicopter pilot

during the Vietnam war. Some of his missions were emergency stand by, dust off, and combat assaults. On one of his missions, his helicopter was shot down. He was badly injured with a broken back

and paralyzed legs. His wing man rescued him by landing beside him and pulling him to safety, though against regulations. Mr. Garlock had a slow recovery during his

stay in the hospital. He did not see his pilot for another 40 years.

• Veterans are not all angry and cynical.

• The military was not incompetent, they were highly mobilized and organized.

• Vietnam was not a civil war.

• Media sought after the horrors of war. Vietnam seemed worse than most wars because the general population had not

witnessed war before.

• There were to many rules and regulations concerning warfare; it was a limited war.
