GAS LIFT: ECONOMICAL AND PROFITABLEGAS LIFT: ECONOMICAL AND PROFITABLEGAS LIFT: ECONOMICAL AND PROFITABLEGAS LIFT: ECONOMICAL AND PROFITABLE

Gas lift is typically one of the most effective and least expensive methods of artificial lift. Producers utiligas lift valves in the production tubing string as a means to control compressed gas into the produced flui

The injection gas pressure generated by a surface compressor or an adjoining gas well actuates the valve

Once the valve opens, the gas is allowed to enter the tubing and mix with the existing fluids. This mixin

of the gas with the fluid creates an aerating process. Which lightens the fluid and propels it to the surfac

This also reduces the bottom hole pressure at the reservoir sand face, increasing production rates.

The force that is used to open them in the well categorizes gas lift valves. There are two basic types

valves used in most applications. Injection pressure-operated valves use the injection gas pressure from th

surface, in the annulus, as the main opening force. Production pressure-operated valves, on the other han

use the production pressure in the tubing (actual downhole tubing pressure) at the valve depth, as the ma

    opening force.

    CONVENTIONAL GAS LIFT VALVES

Conventional gas lift valves include casing-pressure -operated and tubing-pressure-operated (fluid-

operated) types, in a full selection of sizes. Every valve is made from longwearing, stainless steels anddesigned to stand up to tough downhole environments. These valves can be made from AISI 300 series and

AISI 410 stainless, and R and K monel, steels.

Casing-pressure-operated gas lift valves have a bellows designed to prevent it from over extending.

Pressure in the annulus, between the tubing and the casing, controls valve opening and closing. When the

casing pressure exceeds the pressure charge in the valves dome, less the tubing effect, the valve opens. This

allows injection gas to enter the tubing. The valve closes again when the casing pressure drops below the

    pressure in the dome.

Fluid-pressure-operated gas lift valves have fast, positive, spring closure. Fluid pressure in the tubing

string controls the opening and the closing of these valves. Tension in the spring determines the opening andclosing pressures, since there is no pressure charge in the dome. The bellows functions purely as a diaphragm

for tubing pressure to act on.

    WIRELINE RETRIEVABLE GAS LIFT VALVES

Like the conventional gas lift valves the wireline retrievable valves include casing-pressure-operate

tubing-pressure-operated (fluid-operated) types, and dummy valves in a full selection of sizes. Eacvalve has a large dome volume and Monel, multi-ply bellows. Bellows are silver soldered by an induction solderin

technique and all valves are factory tested before being shipped. Every valve is made from longwearing, stainle

steels and designed to stand up to tough downhole environments. These valves can be made from AISI 300 seri

and AISI 410 stainless, and R and K monel, steels.

The wireline-retrievable, gas lift valves have self-contained packing sets above and below the gas inlet ports t

enable the valves to seal in all compatible, side-pocket mandrels. Each valve has an integral check valve to preve

fluid flow between the tubing and the casing.

Casing-pressure-operated gas lift valves have a bellows designed to prevent it from over extendin

Pressure in the annulus, between the tubing and the casing, controls valve opening and closing. When the casinpressure exceeds the pressure charge in the valves dome, less the tubing effect, the valve opens. This allow

WIRELINE RETRIEVABLE GAS LIFT VALVE LATCHES

Retrievable valve latches make it easy to install and remove gas lift valves in side -pocket mandreusing conventional wireline methods. Wireline retrievable valves and accessories that dont have integra

latches are secured in side-pocket mandrels with retrievable latches. Very little force is required to operate the

latches. This keeps wireline time to a minimum. These latches can be made from AISI 300 series and AISI 41
