On Rosh HaShanah we began the circle of
t’shuvah – saying I am sorry.
We ask God to forgive us for all the times we might not keep a promise when we sing the song
Kol Nidre.

The light of Torah shines our path. It shows us how to live.
We need light to see.
Gates of Repentance for Young People CCAR 2002
Torah lights our way
and helps us to be better people.
We need Torah to help us make good choices.
Gates of Repentance for Young People CCAR 2002
Torah brightens our lives with mitzvot, rules that make our goodness grow.
We need light
to grow.
Gates of Repentance for Young People CCAR 2002
With love we sing the Sh’ma, words from the Torah . May these words always be our light .
We praise You our God, for light and life, for Torah and t’shuvah –being able to say “I’m sorry.”

How do we love God with all of our minds?
We love God with our minds
when we study Torah.
Help us, God, to make good choices according to the rules of kindness in the Torah.

How do we love God with all our strength?
We love God when we share with our friends.
Helping others is the way we love God with all our strength.
Gates of Repentance for Young People CCAR 2002
How do we love God with all our heart?
Eternal God, we want to show you we love
You through all our deeds. May our love
make the world a better place, the kind of
world You meant it to be when You created us.

We look into the Yom Kippur mirror and remember:
We must treat people who are different from us fairly. We must not be cruel to those who aren’t as strong as we are.We must not be cruel to those who hurt us.
We are happy God freed our people and for the freedom we have today. We sing Mi Chamocha, a song of praise to God for freedom.
Mi Chamocha, who is like You Eternal God? You help us learn from the past so we may do good deeds in the future.
Standing at the Sea – by Peter & Ellen Allard

...על חטא שחטאנו לפניךAl cheit shechatanu l’fanecha…
For these mistakes, our God, we ask forgiveness:
For saying mean wordsFor hitting instead of using words when we feel hurt
For not sharing what is oursFor not listening to parents and teachers
For not telling the truthFor making bad choices when we know what the
correct choice should be
Gates of Repentance for Young People CCAR 2002
For all wrongs, the ones we say out loud and those we know in our hearts, we are sorry.
Forgive us, God and help us do better.
, מחל לנו, סלח לנו, אלוה סליחות, ועל כלם!לנו-כפר
V’al Kulam, Elo-ha s’lichot, s’lach lanu, m’chal lanu, kapeir lanu!
Gates of Repentance for Young People CCAR 2002
Adonai, our God, we have begun to heal ourselves by saying we are sorry. Help us not to do the same wrongs again.
When people tell us they are sorry for hurting us, may we forgive them.
Forgive us and care for us, God. Even as You pardon us, may we forgive ourselves, our family, and our friends.
