Ron Harris Welcome to worship this morning! Welcome to Worship Video Prelude Sue Woods Threshold Moment: Rev. Ron Harris Encountering the Water brings us face to face with Jesus. Encountering the Water invites us to approach Jesus in deep ways in anticipation as we face our own fears and anxieties. This Encounter with the Water also invites us to welcome Jesus in our search for meaning and our desire to participate in life giving relationships. As we Encounter the Water in our worship series, this Sunday, let us soak in the nurturing, forgiving, loving Spirit of Christ. Opening Hymn “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” #89 UMH Centering for the Day: Rev. Ron Harris Our day is different this day. We set ourselves apart from the world’s undercurrents and riptides to sit, sing, pray and be with God, the Holy One, the Lover of our Souls. We slide into a time that we open our hearts to feel, our minds to think and our spirits to be immersed in the Presence of the one who invites us to follow. Our time in centering clears away the debris and assures us of Jesus’ invitation to come and be one in the everflowing stream. Let us take this moment to be centered and focused to worship and praise, to experience God’s rippling cascade flow into and through our lives. cried at his feet. And she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair. She kissed themand poured perfume on them.39 The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would knowwho is touching him. He would know what kind of woman she is. She is a sinner!”40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”“Tell me, teacher,” he said.41 “Two people owed money to a certain lender. One owed him 500 silver coins. The other owed him 50 silvercoins. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back. So he let them go without paying. Which of them willlove him more?”43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who owed the most money.”“You are right,” Jesus said.44 Then he turned toward the woman. He said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. Youdid not give me any water to wash my feet. But she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss. But this woman has not stopped kissing my feet since I came in. 46 You did not putany olive oil on my head. But she has poured this perfume on my feet. 47 So I tell you this. Her many sins havebeen forgiven. She has shown that she understands this by her great acts of love. But whoever has been forgivenonly a little loves only a little.”48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”49 The other guests began to talk about this among themselves. They said, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”Sermon “Encountering the Water -Soak” Rev. Ron Harris-Celebrating the Lord’s SupperInvitation to the Lord's TableCome to the Lord's Table, all you who love him. Come to the Lord's Table, confess your sin.Come to the Lord's Table, be at peace.Confession of SinWe have not believed you or trusted in your power.Lord, help our unbelief. We have stained our souls by our action and inaction.Cleanse us, Lord.We are broken by disease, bruised by the sins of others, weakened and unable to repair ourselves.Heal us, Lord.We ignore your call to center our lives in you, and so are deaf to the hopes and cries of the poor, the sick, theneedy, and the earth.Ground us, Lord! When we confess our sinful ways, God abundantly pardons. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven. Glory to God!By one Spirit we are all baptized into the one body.Let us then pursue the things that make for peace and build up our common life. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be always with you!And also with you.Thanksgiving and CommunionThe Lord be with you.

And also with you.Lift up your hearts. We lift them to you, Lord.Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.It is right to praise you, Lord.It is right, and a good and joyful thing, Always and everywhere to give thanks to you,Holy Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. From the rising of the sun to its setting your name is praised among all peoples. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with your people on earth and all the company of heavenwho forever sing this hymn to the glory of your name:Holy, holy, holy, Lord,God of power and mightHeaven and earth are full…Full of your glory.Hosanna in the highest!Blessed is the One who comesIn the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest! You are holy, Almighty One! Blessed are you, Jesus Christ! In the power of the Spirit you created all things, blessed them, and called them good. You called to yourself a people to make your mercy and truth known in allthe world. We betrayed your calling; You were faithful. We wandered from the way;You called us to return, and led us home. And still we turned from your ways, abused your creatures, and made ourselves slaves to sin and death. At the right time you came and dwelt among us, as one of us, bringing good news to the poor, healing the sick, raising the dead, sharing table with the unrighteous, and teaching the way that leads to life.By your incarnation, life, suffering, execution and resurrectionYou gave birth to your church, delivered us from slavery and made a new covenant with us by water and theSpirit. On the night of your betrayal, Lord Jesus, you took bread, blessed it, broke it, gave it to your disciples and said,"This is my body which is given for you.Do this in remembrance of me."You did the same with the cup after the supper, saying,"This cup that is poured out is the new covenant in my blood."Blessed Trinity, in remembrance of all you have done to save us, we offer ourselves to you in praise andthanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us,as we sing (proclaim) the mystery of our faith:Christ has come among us. Christ has died.Christ has risen. Christ abides with us.Christ will come again.Pour out your Spirit on usPour out your Spirit on these giftsMake these gifts the body and blood of ChristMake us, through them, Christ's body alive in the world.Abba, Father!Let your kingdom come!Glory to you!Come, Lord Jesus!Be our daily bread.Glory to you!

Come to the Water Centering Songby John Foley, S.J., arranged by Matt Maher

3

O let all who thirst,Let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing,Let them come to the Lord:Without money, without price. Why should you pay the price,Except for the Lord? And let all who seek,Let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing,Let them come to the Lord:Without money, without strife. Why should you spend your life,Except for the Lord?Come to the Lord.Come to the Lord.Come to the Lord.Come to the Lord.

Living Waters chorus in place of regular DoxologyBy Kristyn Getty & Ed Cash
