THE CAMPAIGN
Heartbreaking and inspiring, The Campaign is a human drama that follows ordinary people compelled by a passionate belief in equality to go far beyond their everyday selves. They’re caught in the political firestorm of one of the largest social issue campaign the U.S. has ever seen: the campaign to defeat California’s Proposition 8 and to defend same-sex marriage. With exclusive access to the statewide headquarters of “No on 8,” the story tracks Holli, Claudia, Richard, Anne, and Alison through emotional battles to protect their families, their rights, and their dignity. They learn that growing social acceptance does not always translate into votes, but that participating in the political process transforms them - win or lose. The passage of Prop 8 was a great shock to many, not only
in California but across the nation and around the world. Growing social acceptance and isolated legal gains have produced a sense that increased LGBT legal protection is imminent. Yet at the time of the 2008 election, 31 states had voted against gay marriage at the ballot box. The story is much more complicated than a “Yes” or “No” vote. By reaching beyond the issues to follow strong characters, the film holds universal themes and appeal: the mixed emotions of family relationships, self-empowerment through activism, and the struggle in deciding how much of oneself to sacrifice for the cause. Characters drive the story of The Campaign, from their initial confidence that Prop 8 will be defeated, through their frustrating experiences of unfavorable polling numbers, to their heartbreaking 52-to-48-percent defeat on election night, and the turmoil beyond. We see the lives of real people in the balance, not polished representatives.

OCEAN FRONTIERS: THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA IN OCEAN STEWARDSHIP
How can the United States meet its ever-expanding demands on the ocean without destroying it? To answer this question, Ocean Frontiers introduces the unlikely allies joining forces to improve conditions in the waters off America’s coasts. Ocean Frontiers: The Dawn of a New Era in Ocean Stewardship travels to four seaports and watersheds to observe new, long-term approaches to ocean management- from the busy shipping lanes of Boston Harbor to a small fishing community in the Pacific Northwest; from coral reefs in the Florida Keys to the nation’s premier seafood nursery in the Mississippi Delta. Along the way, OCEAN FRONTIERS captures inspiring stories of scientists, businesses, farmers, sport and commercial fishermen, governments
and citizens coming together to save the seas that sustain them.

COOL SPACES
Architecture, the ancient and constantly renewing discipline, forms the foundation of our everyday lives. It shapes our world in visible ways by defining the streetscape and the skyline. It also shapes our world in tangible ways by creating spaces where we live, work, and play in relative safety and comfort. Architect Stephen Chung, calls such spaces cool. He’s right. In this new public television series conceived, assembled, and hosted by Chung - highly approachable, using everyday language - he draws us into interesting projects, unlocking architecture for a generation that values design but wants to learn more. He asks obvious questions that most of us would like to ask. Who wanted this done? Why? What did they hope to accomplish? Why do these buildings look and feel the way they do, and, ultimately, what did it take to bring them to fruition. Over the course of a single episode, he demystifies architecture by making it understandable and approachable, allowing us to love and learn simultaneously. Viewers will be able to walk through New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or their own hometown with newly opened eyes, thanks to Cool Spaces!. Buildings featured in the series are located in the following cities: Brooklyn NY, Dallas, Kansas City, Las Vegas, New Haven CT, Phoenix, Seattle, Raleigh NC, Philadelphia, and Charlotte NC.
Four part series airs weekly on Mondays at 10PM beginning June 9th

NOVA: D-DAY’S SUNKEN SECRETS
On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched the biggest armada in history to invade the Normandy beaches and liberate Europe from the Nazis. In less than 24 hours, more than 5,000 ships crossed the English Channel, along with thousands of tanks and landing craft and nearly 200,000 men. Throughout the operation hundreds of ships sank running the gauntlet of mines and bunkers, creating
one of the world’s largest underwater archaeological sites. Now, NOVA has exclusive access to a unique collaboration between military historians, archaeologists, and specialist divers to carry out the most extensive survey ever done of the seabed bordering the legendary beachheads. Dive teams, submersibles, and underwater robots discover and identify key examples of the Allied craft that fell victim to German shellfire, mines and torpedoes. The team uses the latest 3D mapping tools to plot the relics on the sea floor. Highlighting the ingenious technology that helped the Allies overcome the German defenses, “D-Day’s Sunken Secrets” unfolds a vivid blow-by-blow account of the tumultuous events of D-Day and reveals how the Allies’ intricate planning and advanced technology was vital to assure the success of the most ambitious and risky military operation ever launched.

NATURE: THE GATHERING SWARMS
Get a look at some of the planet’s great gatherings, creatures that come together in inconceivable numbers — sometimes in millions, billions, even trillions. Included are bats and bees, locusts and ants, mon-arch butterflies in Mexico, 17-year cicada hatches, grunion in the Sea of Cortez and carp in the Mississippi River, sardine runs off the coast of South Africa, super flocks of parakeets in the Australian Outback, mayflies on the 4th of July and even penguins and wildebeest. Some gather to breed or to migrate, some for protection, some sim-ply to keep warm in the cold. But in the process, a kind of super-organism is created in which individual intelligence is superseded by a collective consciousness that shares information and moves with a single purpose for the benefit of all. Check out swarm intelligence, essentially a living embodiment of social media in the natural world.

BRAZIL WITH MICHAEL PALIN
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world -- both in terms of population and geography. Over 192 million people call this land their home. Taking up over half of South America, Brazil is a mix of races, religions, sophistication, wildness, wealth, poverty and unexplored wilderness. The country is considered one of the rising global powers -- less scary than China, less authoritarian than Russia and less chaotic than India with vast natural resources, a
burgeoning industrial base and a strong currency that make it the envy of all. In this series, Michael Palin visits Brazil for the very first time, traveling from the lost world of Amazonia to the buzzing metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, to meet the people and visit the places that shape this nation.

Recycled from a defunct elevated railroad, High Line Park hovers 30 feet in the air and winds through 22 blocks of Manhattan. This “self-sown wilderness” of woodlands, thickets, prairies and meadows rises above busy streets and runs from the historic Meatpacking neighborhood through the Chelsea Art District to Hell’s Kitchen.

Dive teams, submersibles, and underwater robots discover and identify key examples of the Allied craft that fell victim to German shellfire, mines and torpedoes. The team uses the latest 3D mapping tools to plot the relics on the sea floor. Highlighting the

BRAZIL WITH MICHAEL PALINBrazil is the fifth largest country in the world -- both in terms of population and geography. Over 192 million people call this land their home. Taking up over half of South America, Brazil is a mix of races, religions, sophistication, wildness, wealth, poverty and unexplored wilderness.
