INTERGRAPH SmartPlant for Owner Operators technology is now used by Gazprom Neft, one of the largest oil companies in Russia, to integrate engineering data management systems during major construc-tion projects and the operation of oil refining sites.

A pilot project for integrating SmartPlant for Owner Operators tech-nology was scheduled and is currently being implemented. In 2015, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine, together with Gazprom Neft spe-cialists, implemented the first part of the pilot project called “Engineer-ing data management system for oil refining sites (the first stage – Fast Track).”

This engineering information database, based on Intergraph Smart-Plant for Owner Operators technology, will allow reduction of the data and document transfer management costs during the entire life cycle of oil refining assets. The benefits of the system include the ability to reduce time spent on searching for information, enhanced security and an ability to centralize engineering project data to provide access to all employees involved. Later, the database will support timely and in-formed decision making processes at the industrial sites.

Sergei Ovchinnikov, director of logistics, refinery and sales manage-ment systems department, commented on the decision to choose Inter-graph SmartPlant products, “When considering the specifications and uniqueness of this project, we expect the new, integrated engineering data management system to become an indispensable tool for both production site specialists and experts, as well as the management of Gazprom Neft.”

Gerhard Sallinger, president of Intergraph Process, Power & Marine, said, “Russia is a key market for Intergraph PP&M. It is great to see that one of the leading Russian companies on the market of hydrocarbon extraction and refining, Gazprom Neft, has decided to integrate Smart-Plant for Owner Operators technology. I expect this to bring short-term and long-term success for both Intergraph and Gazprom Neft.”

Kuwait’s Lower Fars Heavy Crude Oil Scheme is expected to be one of the largest and most ambitious upstream projects of the Middle East. With a budget estimated at $7 billion for the entire project with $4.5 billion allocated for phase 1, the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) aims collect large amounts of data and drill over 900 hundred wells to extract heavy crude oil from the Ratqa field in North Kuwait. The development has been split into phases, with phase one comprising two well blocks intended to reach a plateau production rate of 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) over a 10-year period from the start of operations. Project status

July 2016: The client expects to complete 15% of the construction work by the end of July 2016. The project is still on schedule to be completed in April 2019.

Project ScopeThe scope of work covers greenfield and brownfield

facilities and includes engineering, procurement, con-struction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and operations and maintenance work for the main central processing facility (CPF) and associated infra-structure as well as the production support complex.

This includes a pipeline of almost 162 kilometres, which will transport the heavy crude from the CPF to South Tank Farm located in Ahmadi, from where KOC has the option to send it to the proposed Al-Zour refin-ery in the south of Kuwait.

Phase 1 will increase heavy oil output from Ratqa by 60,000 bpd – 120,000 bpd.
