CASE STUDY
GREEN BUILDING…???
A green building is the one that:- Is environmentally responsible. Is healthy place to live and work. Results in low cost ultimately.
GREEN BUILDING FEATURES
Eco-friendly- by least disturbance to eco-system.
Energy efficient- through natural lighting, ventilation and solar passive designs.
Efficient use of water- through recycling and water harvesting.
Use of renewable energy- through photovoltaic systems and solar heating systems etc.
GREEN BUILDING FEATURES
Indoor environment. Use of recycle/recyclable materials i.e.
minimum wastage. Efficient waste utilization and disposal. Use of non toxic materials.
WHY IT IS NECESSARY TO
MAKE THE BUILDING
GREEN???
GLOBAL ENERGY USE
Bldg. ServicesBldg. Const.TransportIndustryOthers
Construction industry contributes nearly 50% of energy consumption.
CONSTRUCTION OF GREEN BUILDINGS
Following aspects are looked into:- Site planning. Building envelope design. Building system design:-HVAC, Lighting,
Plumbing, Electricity and Water Heating.
Integration of renewable energy sources to generate energy at site.
CONSTRUCTION OF GREEN BUILDINGS
Water and waste management. Selection of ecologically sustainable
materials. Quality of indoor ambience.
GREEN BUILDING RATING SYSTEMS
More than 30 rating systems are followed world
wide. Some of the green building rating
systems:- United Kingdom- BREEM Australia- GREEN STAR Japan- CASBEE United States- LEED Canada- LEED CANADA India- LEED INDIA

MATERIALS WASTE REUSE
100% of waste is diverted from land fills
Brick waste and cement waste mortar is re-used.Steel and empty cement bags were sold to local vendors for recycling.
MATERIALS RENEWABLE MATERIALSRapidly
renewable material bamboo is extensively used in the flooring.
Natural woolen carpets in the major areas like living, drawing and bedrooms.
MATERIALS
Salvaged wood used for doors and windows.
INDOOR AIR QUALITYSkylight in the courtyard.Full length windows.Natural lighting and ventilation in toilets.Sun pipes in the parking garage and in the cellar room make efficient use of daylight.
On-site STP
There is an onsite water treatment plant provided.
Portable water saving up to 50-60%.
