Nice GreetersWant to explore Nice through new eyes? Take a walk with a Greeter.“Greeters” are people who love their hometownand wish to help others discover it according to their tastes and points of view. This free service is based on volunteer work. The “Greeters” each have their own original vision of the city and a strong desire to share it. The theme of the tour —shopping, markets, neighbourhoods, gastronomy...— is less important than the human contact and dialogue, which are the essential aim of such meetings (duration of the tour: approx. 2 hours). To take advantage of this offer, visitors can make a reservation 7 days beforehand for a discovery tour with a “Greeter” selected according to availability, language and chosen theme (online reservations only). To mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Chagall, the Musée National Marc Chagall brings the general public a glimpse of the artist’s lesser-known woven work. Having settled in the South of France, in the wake of the Second World War Marc Chagall began exploring techniques other than painting and engraving. The artist sought to broaden his artistic range, pouring his efforts into experimenting with ceramics, stained glass, sculpture, mosaics and tapestry. In his lifetime, Chagall created 20 tapestries used to decorate public buildings or incorporated into private collections. For the very first time, the Musée National Marc Chagall is giving pride of place to this technique. The Marc Chagall «Oeuvres tissées» exhibition

will be exhibited throughout the museum. It will allow the public to enjoy 12 shimmering or more nuanced tapestries as well as 12 original works by Chagall that served as models for the weaving.

Crafts - The mouse and the parrot - until August 31st

Through works created by over thirty artists, this exhi-bition illustrates how art and technique collide within contemporary art.The exhibition aims to make up for lost time regarding the debate to be had on this practice by highlighting works, objects and artists who play on different tech-niques, inventing them, reinventing them, exhibiting them and concealing them

Shape dancing at the Museum of Asian Arts - until September 6th

Having trained in textile arts under the master artisans of Mingei (a movement that aims to breathe new life into traditional Japanese folk art), Samiro Yunoki specialises in katazome, the traditional art of stencil dyeing, and is one of its most renowned representatives. Most of his works are incredibly large-scale pieces that combine ancestral expertise with a contemporary vision. These spectacular pieces are unashamedly inspired by western art, in particular that of Matisse, Calder, Miro and Klee, both in terms of the techniques and materials used and the decorative patterns themselves.

A Parc Alpha exhibition in partnership with the Natural History Museum, through which visitors can learn more about this legendary predator in a fun way that brings the creatures to life in a natural setting (raw wood, pine trees, etc.). The aim here is to inspire emotion and play on sensation. A number of unusual, sometimes even unknown objects can be touched and felt to a soundtrack of wolf cries and howls that create an authentic atmosphere. On display in Europe’s largest greenhouse, this event is also a great opportunity to learn more about different botanical environments.

Nice 1915 : Italy enters the Waruntil december 18th

As the biggest border town between Genoa and Marseille, Nice illustrates the richness and consistency of the ties that have bound France and Italy for centuries.Their historic proximity nevertheless proved problematic on the dawning of World War I, when Nice’s Italian population found itself on the receiving end of suspicion and backlash, as the Italian kingdom joined forces with Germany and Austria. Yet when Italy joined the Allies in their fight, the community was able to integrate fully into Nice’s population, as illustrated by the plethora of monuments and plaques paying tribute to Italian casualties found scattered throughout the city. This exhibition offers the opportunity to explore this spectacular legacy of the Belle Époque.

With its pebble beach steeped in the geological history of an area nestled between the Alps and the Me-diterranean, the Promenade unveils its true nature : curves shaped by the unbridled frenzy of the ele-ments, the graphic contrast of its rifts, fossil traces of its past. In support of the Promenade des Anglais application for inclusion on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, spearheaded by Jean-Jacques Aillagon, this exhibition sheds light on one of Nice’s historic symbols.
