Welcome to The Global Bartender Exchange V3.0
Hello GBE massive,
It’s our pleasure to unveil the latest design of the GBE application to you all. A very different beast both visually and functionally, compared to V1.0 and V2.0.
We’ve had a great time working on this, to say there have been a few learning curves is a colossal understatement. All of your feedback, comments and participation have been crucial. Keep them coming!
We would specifically like to thank Sara Tatai for her outstanding designs, and our software genius Christopher for working non-stop to bring these concepts to life.
Read on, and all will be revealed.

Ge#ng Around
Now you are good to go anywhere within the GBE! Let’s have a look at the navigaDonal buWons & icons:

Se#ngs: Where you can update your Account Info and Profile, and log out if you really want to.
Interac-ons: NoDfies you when other GBE members comment on, or ‘cheers’ your post.
Messages: Your very own inbox for networking and keeping in touch with the rest of the GBE massive. Country & City Selec-on: Thanks to advancements in our technology, you can teleport to any Exchange forum in the world with one click.
Tip! SelecDng a country first narrows down the ciDes opDons to that country.
p.4
Mini Calendar: Clicking on this takes you straight to the Events calendar for your current month in your home city. The days highlighted in red will show you when one or more Events are happening. Have a click and see what’s happening in your neck of the woods.
Current Loca-on: This will show you which Exchange you are currently in. (Tip: Did you know you can see mulDple city acDvity if you select a country?)
The GBE Logo: Takes you back to the Global (Central) Exchange no maWer where you are in the world.

The noDon of bartending communiDes having forums for discussions is not new, but now you can access forums for over 100 ciDes around the world with just a few clicks.
House Rules
Ask your local crew what the comfiest bar shoes are. Track down the best online resources for bar tools. Find long lost liquors! Go nuts. However, we have a few . . .
1. Keep it industry relevant. 2. If you consistently spam*, you won’t be asked to leave. We’ll just delete you. 3. Slander towards other GBE members or individuals/establishments within the bartending community will be taken as a prompt to be surgically removed. 4. Links for pornographic material where naked individuals are being covered in Tequila does not
count as industry relevant content. 5. Nobody likes an overly self-‐promoter. Remember this is a community forum, so please
use your own social media pages for geVng votes for your latest cocktail creaDon.
* This includes: Non-‐industry/irrelevant informaDon, constant re-‐posDng of the same content, selling shoes, and hijacking the forums to capitalize on the collecDve wages of the GBE massive.

Lists are helpful. Especially ones that result with you finding a job in a new city, or your bar procuring a kick-ass new member of staff.
Whether your hiring or looking, you can post or browse a job ad in any city that you want to within the GBE application.
p.9
Create a Post View Jobs posted View Available Staff
Create a Post
1) Choose the type of ad
2) Fill in the details. Tip: Be descriptive about what you are looking for. “I’m good hire me” is unlikely to leave you with jingling pockets.
3) Choose the job status. If you find someone, please delete the ad to make room for other ads, thanks!
4) Hit the big red button and stand by your phone . . .
Tip: Check the jobs listing afterwards to make sure it’s in
the right place.
p.10
A wise man once said “It would be really handy if there was somewhere you could access all the global and local events for the bartending community.” And we agree.
How does it work? Quite simply, if you are hosting an open event for bartenders and industry peeps in a specific city, you can lock it into the GBE calendar and expect to see an improved turnout. Reach beyond your contacts. Alert the masses to cocktail comps and tastings. Avoid clashing with other popular events. Check out the local happenings. It just makes sense right?
1. Choose your event category & location. 2. Give your event a name. 3. Advise people what’s about to go down. 4. Lock in the date. 5. Specify the venue and address. 6. Extra info? After party venues?
Once you’ve done all that, hit that big old red Button to lock it in.
Tip: The Global Calendar is perfect for events that will expect international attendance.
p.11
Once you have posted your event, it will show up as a calendar icon on the main calendar. Clicking on each date will show you the list of events happening that day.
This is by far our favourite feature. We hope you enjoy making use of it and spread the word to your industry friends who like to throw a good shindig, tasting or hootnanny.
p.12
Create Event View Calendar by Month View Events by date
There’s simply nothing beWer than geVng a bartenders recommendaDon of where to get a decent old fashioned and maybe even a job.
The usefulness of this feature will come from more and more bars signing up around the world. So, if you own a bar, check out how to sign up on the ‘Get Started’ page.
We’re hoping we get a good mix of Cocktail bars, Dive bars, hotel bars, restaurants, spirit specialists and the like, joining the global ranks of our Bars lisDngs. Variety and all that!
Tip: With your bar profile, you can post up job ads too. Then would be employees can check out all your details/website.
p.13
Every bar community needs it’s very own rogue’s gallery. Fear not for being tagged, we’re doing it old school. No off the wall comments from your Granny to worry about. Show us your Shots.
Cocktail comps, lock ins, tasDngs, seminars. As long as it’s bar related and not pornographic then get them up.
p.14
When you arrive in a new city, you might not know a single soul. So for you, in every Exchange, there is a Crew list for everyone currently located in that city.
Less ‘Who you know’ and more ‘Where you are.’
If you want to give yourself a snazzy looking profile picture, and update your work info head over to your account se#ngs and go to ‘Update Profile.’ Otherwise you’ll be stuck with that generic, weird liWle bow-‐Ded chap without the face.
You can send private messages too. Handy for geVng in touch about topics ‘on the down low.’
We’ve kept your profiles basic to start with, but if you would like to see any specific features added to the mix, then fire through your suggesDons to us.

Bugs & Error Messages
Every piece of computer software that you use will encounter the occasional bug from time to time, and it is usually as simple as one misplaced character somewhere in 10,000 lines of code.
Usually you will get a message like this at the top of the screen:
Though we test our software daily, we would like you to keep an eye out for any little quirks or errors. If you spot one please include the following:
- Which browser you are using (Safari, Chrome etc) - A description of the problem or preferably a screen shot of the error as above.
Via email to: [email protected]
Many thanks you legends.

Q & A
Q: How can I use the GBE to find staff? A: Pick the city you want to find staff in, and post up a job advert. Easy!
Q: How many people are currently using the GBE? A: Currently we have a reach of over 7000 hospitality professionals across our various social media platforms, and we have just under 1500 currently on the GBE application. With your help, we can get more people involved and make it even more useful for everyone. (ahem! Cough. Hint hint)
Q: Can we get our staff picture put up as the main banner on the Crew section? A: Absolutely, we will change them monthly if we get enough staff shots coming through. Send them over to us (in high res png files) to [email protected]
Q: I have a contact/friend who doesn’t work in the industry, but would like to use the GBE to hire some staff for an event. How do they go about doing so? A: Ask them to get in touch with us at the above email address.
p.17
Q & A
Q: I would like to let bartenders know about my website/company/campaign/competition, what is the process for this? A: Get in touch with us and we can send you a media pack with the details about our ad spaces.
Q: Are you guys going to design a mobile app? A: We’re working hard to get this out for the start of next year, and we will keep you updated with our progress via the GBE newsletter.
Q: I can’t find my city on the ‘Home city’ drop down list! A: Whoops. Send us an email and we’ll add it straight away.
Q: I’ve posted up an event, but we have limited spaces. A: It’s probably best to add an ‘R.S.V.P’ only in your event details, along with your preferred contact details.
Q: I’ve posted up an ad in city but I’m not sure if anyone is going to see it? A: We have incorporated a weekly email into our design, so for everyone signed up in London for example, will get an email each week with all the new jobs posted.
p.18
We hope this guide has been helpful and that you enjoy making use of the GBE application.
Remember to spread the word on your travels, you guys will make the difference.
