OUR STORYIn 2001, three Kiwi guys set up the first Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Battersea, changing the UK burger scene forever. Now with over 60 restaurants across the UK, we still pride ourselves on serving up handcrafted burgers, combining 100% prime beef, hand selected and traditionally reared on independent farms across the South West counties with the freshest ingredients and sauces.
PETER GORDONPeter Gordon, ‘the father of fusion’ is a New Zealand chef, renowned for his unique culinary philosophy. Peter worked with GBK to devise our first burger menu back in 2001, becoming the catalyst for rejuvenating the burger to the London market and setting the standards in freshness, innovation, taste and quality. He continues to work with us, playing an active role in our brand development.

Recognising that not all buildings are the same, we have moved away from the ‘cookie cutter’ design approach, opting to take each project on its merits and design each site with consideration and sympathy to the surrounding environment.
DEVELOPING OUR ESTATESince January 2011 we have been implementing a rolling refurbishment programme on our core estate, starting with restaurant number one… Battersea. These, together with our openings, mean that by December 2014 we will have completed 97% of the estate having spent over £21m in the process.
DESIGNWorking with three of London’s top architectural designers, the resultant design is not only uniquely GBK, but exudes the fresh, confident approach you’d expect from the UK’s leading burger bar. As we grow, our core objective is to continually evolve our look and feel, challenge the norm and ensure we continually lead the pack.
From the first project, we have always been encouraged to push the boundaries, produce a casual, stylish, loose fit restaurant that respects and capitalises on the architecture and location of the building in which it sits. The emphasis is on quality materials, both new and recycled, texture, colour, and an eclectic mixture of furniture and light fittings.
