GCPS to host review of technology-based materials for K-8 mathematics Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) invites parents and members of the
community to join the school system’s staff in a review of proposed technology-based
instructional materials for mathematics in grades K-8. The technology-based instructional
materials to be reviewed are intended as a supplemental instructional piece. They will be
used to support the elementary and middle school levels mathematics textbooks adopted by
the Gwinnett County Board of Education.
Technology-based instructional materials submitted by publishers are reviewed by
teachers, administrators, and parents for alignment with the school system’s Academic
Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum. The technology-based instructional materials will
be available in a computer lab as part of the review process.
The review will be held from January 28 – February 1 at GCPS' Instructional Support
Center (ISC) in Building 200 (POD lab, room 2.271). The hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The ISC is located at 437 Old Peachtree Road, NW Suwanee, 30024.
To ensure that technical support is available during the review, parents and community
members must make an appointment to participate by calling Sheila Manley, mathematics
office program assistant, at 678-301-7037.
Based on the input gathered from this review, a recommendation may be made to the
Board of Education for adoption of technology-based instructional materials for
mathematics in grades K-8.
