Changes

There have been some changes since the last update due to wanting to align with NC school

board expectations that were put out on April 23rd.

What Will Not Change!

GUILFORD COUNTY SCHOOLS EXPECTS YOU TO KEEP LEARNING.

MY JOB IS TO KEEP TEACHING...

YOUR JOB IS TO KEEP LEARNING.

WE NEED TO DISCUSS WHAT IS EXPECTED OF US

AND WHAT WE SHOULD EXPECT IN RETURN.

What we are going to keep doing!

Grade Policy Change

The final report card grade will be based on the 3rd quarter grade:

- A numeric grade is shown for students with grades 80 and above.

- A Pass (PC19) is shown for students who had a numeric grade of 60-79.

- A Withdrawn (WC19) is shown for students who had a numeric grade below 60.

Students grades can only improve during remote learning. Students with a Withdrawn (WC19) will receive a credit once they work to improve the grade to Pass.

WOW, what an amazing opportunity!!! Why would any student NOT want to do this?

Students who wish to make changes from numeric grade to Pass (PC19) or a Pass (PC19) to a numeric grade may do so after an individual session with the school counselor prior to the 46th

day of the 20-21 school year.

THESE MEETINGS WILL START AT THE START OF NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.

The last day we were at school (March 13) has become the end of the third quarter.

At this point, you are working on assignments that show your understanding of the Core Concepts

that we have talked about.

Based on how much you do of these assignments will determine how many points (up to 12.5 total points) gets added to your 3rd quarter grade to result in a final grade for the semester.

How much work have you done?

Final grades will be calculated by adding on points earned based on the rubric above to the 3rd quarter grade. This will

make the Final grade that you will get for the class.

YES! Why would we

not do this?! This will

help our GPA and

College acceptance

Examples:Captain America

H. English 10

He currently has a 70 for 3rd Quarter in H. English 10

He wants to improve that, but he only does 85% of his assignments.

So, he gets 11.5 points added to the 3rd quarter grade.

Final Grade: 81.5

Iron ManH. English 10

He currently has a 45 for 3rd Quarter in H. English 10

He wants to pass this class, so he does 100% of his assignments.

Plus some extra assignments to try and pass the class.

Final Grade: Pass (PC19)

can learn the core concepts in this

course.

check on what assignments are being

given.

• Complete the Assignments!

• If you are having problems with the

assignments, or have questions, email me!

• If I do not know that you are having

problems then I cannot help, and it looks

like you are just not doing anything.
