So far, we have designed and produced a special key for the holidays– every single year in this century!No, wait– in this millennium! This year we combine a traditional camel-back lever with a translucentred knob, on a walnut base, for a stunning little key that will turn heads wherever it goes. Thecamelback provides for an elegant level transition down to the contacts but it also adds mass to thelever, making it smoother to operate. That and the added leverage that you get with the trunnion at therear of the key make it an excellent key for sending code.

The wires from the miniature binding posts are traced into the base and covered with a felt pad so thekey will be less likely to slip, and won’t mar the table. The hardware is highly polished brass, goldplated so that it will not tarnish or corrode. Contact spacing and spring tension are both controlled bythe single adjusting screw just forward of the trunnion, a clever and practical arrangement that I havenot seen on any other keys. It weighs 2-1/4 ounces (60g) and measures 2-3/8 x 1-5/8" (60 x 40mm) at the base.

The OHR100A is a 5W transceiver kit offered for the 80, 40, 30, 20, or 15 meter band. Someof the features include single signal superhet receiver design, an ultra-stable pre-mix VFOsystem with high side L.O. injection and at least 70 KHz of tuning range on each band.

The 4-pole crystal IF filter uses matched crystals and the bandwidth is adjustable from 1200Hz to 400 Hz with front panel control. There are separate RF and AF gain controls, makingit easy to copy weak signals in difficult conditions. The RIT range is +/- 1 KHz. Transmitting sidetone is provided by a sinewave oscillator with adjustments for frequencyand level.

There are test points on the board for use with your digital voltmeter during alignment. Jacksare provided for headphones and speaker. The 100A can be used with stereo or monoheadphones.

The transmitter provides a full 5 watts of output (4 to 4.5W on 15M), variable from zero tofull output by means of a control accessible from the rear panel. The QSK circuit is silkysmooth. The 100A will operate on 12 - 13.8VDC. Current drain is 80mA on receive and850mA on transmit (measured at 13.6V). The 40 and 15 meter versions can be set up foroperation in the novice bands.

The completed transceiver measures (HWD) 2 ½" x 6" x 6" and weighs 24 oz. The kit iscomplete with cabinet, high quality silk-screened and masked PCB, all components andinstructions. Alignment service is available, and the OHR100A can be built to order.

The Oak Hills Research WM-2 was designed specifically for the QRP operator. The unitoperates from 300 KHz to 54 MHz. It will measure forward and reflected power at QRPlevels down to 5mW or less. You can select from three full scale power ranges of 10W, 1Wor 100mW with an accuracy of 5% of full scale on each range.

A rear panel switch allows you to select the internal 9V battery or external power jack for theoperating voltage(+9-12VDC).

The WM-2 uses a high quality custom-made meter movement with a large easy to read scale.The meter circuit current drain is typically 1mA, making it great for portable use. Thewattmeter can be left in-line permanently with very little loss.

The kit is supplied with high quality SO-239 coax connectors, or use our BNC conversionkit (see page18). The WM-2 is easy to build and align– the alignment consist of setting threevoltages with your digital voltmeter. A source of RF is not required for alignment.

The completed wattmeter measures (HWD) 4½" x 3 ½" x 4" and weighs 16 oz. The kit iscomplete with cabinet, high quality silk-screened and masked PCB, all components andinstructions (less 9V battery). Alignment service is available, and the OHR WM-2 can be or-dered assembled, aligned, and tested.

The OHR DD-1 Digital Dial & Frequency Counter Kit

The Oak Hills Research DD-1 is a six digit counter designed to be used as a digital dial withall of our transceiver kits. It can also be used as a general purpose 100 Hz to 50 MHzfrequency counter, a digital dial for home built rigs, an add-on digital dial for commercialtransceivers, transmitters or receivers. The counter will operate with tube or solid stateequipment having a variable oscillator system up to 50 MHz. It will accommodate caseswhere the oscillator tunes in reverse with respect to operating frequency. Direct frequencyreadout can be displayed with any IF offset as long as the frequency being measured is 50MHz or less.

Some of the advanced features of the DD-1 include anti-jitter code which reduces last digitjitter, sixteen non-volatile stored offset and mode programs, five of which are push buttonselectable from the front panel, programmable reverse counting for reverse tuning VFOs,selectable direct frequency readout, and automatic display blanking to conserve power whenthe frequency is not changing. You can also just blank the 100 Hz digit and/or the megahertzdigit if you so choose. The DD-1 has two switch selected input connectors on the rear panel.One is used for direct frequency measurement and the other for digital dial (programmedoffset) applications. The DD-1 requires from 9 - 13.8VDC for proper operation. The currentdrain is 100mA with all six digits active and 40mA with all digits blanked.

The completed DD1 measures (HWD) 1 ¾" x 4 ½" x 4" and weighs 11 oz. The kit iscomplete with cabinet, two high quality silkscreened and masked PCBs, all components andinstructions. Alignment service is available, and the DD-1 can be ordered assembled.

The OHR RFL-100100W RF Dummy Load Kit

The Oak Hills Research RFL-100 is our easiest kit, yet the finished unit is a practicalaccessory of commercial quality and superior performance. It features 100W continuouspower dissipation (higher power for shorter periods) providing a non-inductive load to144MHz. The RFL-100 uses 20 metal-oxide resistors on a high-temperature circuit boardwith 2 Oz copper traces for shared power and heat dissipation. Connection is via an SO-239with gold plated pin, or use our SB conversion kit for BNC. Resistance is within 2% of thenominal 50 ohms– much closer than can be achieved with single carbon resistors used incommercial units.

OHR Electronic Keyers

Optional built-in keyers for the Oak Hills Research transceivers, the keyers use state-of-the-art single chip processors from Jackson Harbor Press. Versions of these keyer kits are stillavailable for the OHR-500 – add $10.
