General Description: Ripple is a 30.7m (101ft) sailing yacht designed by Ron Holland and built by Brooke Yachts in 1990. This sloop has had numerous refits and upgrades and is currently in Barcelona having further work completed in time for the coming season. The interior includes a master suite and two twin cabins. During the years 2002 until today the yacht has seen little use and benefitted from various further works and upgrades – mast, rigging and new deck being the major items. The yacht now with her third owner was acquired in 2008 and used for family sailing in the west Med keeping the home port in Gibraltar. In March 2012 the vessel was ashore for her annual service work and in preparation for the new season. She returned to Barcelona and saw some light day sailing use in summer. General description:

Full width master stateroom aft with forward facing centreline king size berth; vanity unit and stool to starboard; settee to port; full height lockers each side with mirrored doors. Full width “bathroom” aft with twin wash basins and a marble Jacuzzi bath with shower, and separate wc area with washbasin.

Forward are two twin guest cabins, one to port and one to starboard. Both with generous en-suite head area with washbasin and a separate shower compartment. Two single beds in each cabin and with full height hanging locker with mirror doors. The port cabin has blue trimmings and the starboard has brown.

Up 4 steps is the Saloon with spacious lower dining area to port and comfortable seating to starboard. There are lockers by the dining area for crockery and a drinks locker plus fridge. Brown leather trimming combined with cream head lining and white upholstery makes a bright area. 2 x hull ports each side and 2 x coaming windows each side.

The navigation station is also to starboard, at the aft bulkhead and facing aft.

From the saloon natural teak deck style steps lead to the cockpit.

Forward of the saloon is the crew area. The galley to starboard with cabinets and Corian counters. Fully equipped and updated in 2007. From the galley a hatchway leads aft and down to the engine room.

Opposite the galley to port is the crew dinette with audio visual and monitoring equipment. Freezer, microwave and laundry equipment.

There is accommodation forward for 4 crew in 2 en-suite cabins: –

Captain cabin to starboard with double bed and a single above, plus storage, desk unit and ensuite head / shower.

Twin upper / lower berth cabin on port side with lockers and an ensuite head / shower.

In 1999 owners comprehensively redesigned and upgraded the helm station and controls - including extensive rewiring. All controls are now easily accessed. The helm and cockpit areas are a joy placing the owner / helmsman close to his family or guests and yet allowing easy control.

Aluminium hull, deck and superstructure.

Fin and skeg underwater profile. Bulb keel. Rudder with full skeg.

Hull topsides painted with Awlgrip Navy Blue, coach-roof areas painted white.

Teak laid decks: (new 2007).

Hydraulic stern boarding platform of stainless steel and teak (1999).

Lofrans Super Ercole hydraulic anchor windlass, controlled with a wander lead.

Windlass and hydraulic system for it overhauled 2003.

Lewmar deck hatches (2002).

Pneumatic companionway door (1999).

Accommodation:

Forward are two twin guest cabins, one to port and one to starboard. Both with generous en-suite head area with washbasin and a separate shower compartment. Two single beds in each cabin and with full height hanging locker with mirror doors. The port cabin has blue trimmings and the starboard has brown.

Interior styling and design: by Jon Bannenberg.

The detail styling of many fittings and fixtures was inspired by the designs of Jean Cocteau .

Guest areas have been fitted with Acousticstop lead-

lined sub-carpeting. This significantly reduces sound and vibration transfer for a quieter yacht under power.

Upholstery: new in 2008. White fabric upholstery with grey crew covers.

Cream colour carpet in saloon – new March 2012.

Radar - Furuno 1510 72 mile, with a cockpit repeater screen (2005).

Weather-fax printer - Furuno D-Fax.

All software new 2007. The purpose for all of this equipment is to have backups to the

backups, if possible. If the big PC dies, the entertainment system runs on a laptop and

handheld FPS. Sat-C and sonar can be run from the laptop also.

GPS data is backed up in sequence, to: Northstar - Trimble Sat-C receiver - Garmin.

The Sat-M terminal and Satcom F55 has NMEA data which can be used as well.

Remarks:

Built as Gee Dee for German owners who enjoyed her and sailed around the world.

The refit in Auckland during 1998 / 99 included hull, bottom, mast and boom paint and upgrading and maintenance to equipment. Air conditioning had a full overhaul 1999 including new air handlers, compressors, condensers, heat exchangers and plumbing.

Upon the yachts return from her cruise, she changed hands and was completely refitted.

Refit 2002:

RIPPLE underwent a substantial refit in 2002 at Camper & Nicholsons, Gosport, UK, over a 6 month period. She was in a covered shed ashore and her rig was removed.

Refit 2005:

New mast and boom by Formula Spars.

OYS replaced all standing rigging.

Reckmann furling gear serviced and replaced where necessary.

Bottom clean, anti-foul, anodes replaced, sea chest serviced and cleaned.

Prop shaft pulled and serviced. Cutlass bearing replaced

Full insurance survey completed.

Refit 2006/2007:

New teak decks.

Main engine / gearbox coupling replaced.

All exterior and some interior hydraulic hoses replaced.

Seaway captive winches serviced.

Ongoing service programme to all mechanical areas, main engine, generators, hydraulics, air conditioning and electrics.
