Formulae:

Gross Pay = Hours Worked x Hourly Pay Federal Tax:

An employee qualifies for tax relief if they have dependents: R 24.32 for each dependent, otherwise its 22% of the gross pay: WRITE IT!!

= 22% of (Gross Pay – Dependents x 24.32) State Tax:

4% of the Gross Pay, or = 0.04 x Gross Pay

Net Pay: Try to write the formula!!

(Usually it is your ‘take-home’ pay, that is after

you deduct the taxes from the gross pay)

= Gross Pay – (Federal Tax + State Tax) Tax%:

= (Total Tax)/Gross Pay ‘x 100’

= (Federal Tax + State Tax)/Gross Pay

Relative Referencing:

When copying a formula, Excel adjusts the cell references so that the new formula contains references corresponding to the new cell locations: if you copy downward, Excel adjust the ROW

portion of the cell reference, and if copied across, Excel adjusts the COLUMN

portion of the cell reference in the formula. This is RELATIVE REFERENCING
