1. Cemetery gates will be open to visitorsevery day of the year from 8:00 a.m.until 5:00 p.m. The gates will close at4:45 p.m. to allow visitors to exit thecemetery. The cemetery will remainopen until 8:00 p.m. on Memorial Day(the date of State observance).

2. Cut flowers may be placed on graves atany time (no glass) containers. Flowersand temporary containers will beremoved from graves as soon as bou-quets become unsightly. During thegrowing season when grass requirescutting, all flowers—both fresh andthose that have become unsightly—willbe removed prior to grounds mainte-nance.

3. Effective September 1, 1997, theMaryland Veterans Cemeteries will nolonger accept permanent in-groundflower vases for installation at our fivefacilities.

4. Artificial flowers and wreaths may beplaced on graves from November 1through March 31 only. Potted plantsand holiday wreaths will be permittedon graves only during the period 10days before and 10 days after EasterSunday and Memorial Day (the date ofstate observance). Christmas wreathsare permitted during the Christmas sea-son only, from December 1 throughJanuary 31. Any Christmas flowers orwreaths remaining on graves as ofFebruary 1 will be removed and dis-carded. Please retrieve valuable floralarrangements before that date to avoiddisappointment.

5. Potted plants (except as noted above),permanent plantings, statues, vigillights, glass objects of any kind,

balloons, toys, stuffed animals, and similar commemorative items are notpermitted on graves at any time. Allunauthorized items will be removed by cemetery staff and discarded.

6. Small United States flags will be placedon graves by cemetery staff one daypreceding Memorial Day and will beremoved the following work day.Veterans Day and Flag Day only; U.S.grave site flags (8”x12”) may be placedon grave by cemetery visitors and needto be removed by close of business thatday. Flags are not permitted on gravesat any other time.

7. Until growing conditions are favorableand the turf has been established burialareas may be substandard in appear-ance. After the grave has stabilized, andactive burial operations have beenmoved to other areas, the overallappearance of an occupied section willimprove. Meanwhile, the cemetery staffrequests your understanding and asksthat you refrain from placing sod orgrass seed on burial sites.

8. Complaints or questions should bebrought to the attention of theCemetery Superintendent Mondaythrough Friday between the hours of8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

9. Please respect the dignity of your veterans cemetery by not littering thegrounds, cutting, injuring or breakingtrees or shrubs, or using the grounds asa picnic area. Pets, bicycling, or runningon cemetery grounds is prohibited.

10. No personal vehicles in sections or ongrass.
