HelloWe are a global community of talented individuals who work together to provide marketing, sales, HR, finance and admin services to companies around the world.

Clients are serviced by a carefully curated team of Hoxbies, all of whom are freelance and have chosen to work on the project, bringing an unparalleled level of passion to each brief in hand.

Our revolutionary community model provides a uniquely flexible way for us to work together, and with our clients, without the need for an office.

Members of The Hoxby Collective have the freedom to choose where and when they work, so that it suits the other unique aspects of their life - we call this ‘workstyle’ and we believe everyone is entitled to have one of their own, that best suits them.

We provide Hoxbies with brilliant tools to collaborate online rather than in an office because it makes them happier, more productive and better at the job they do.

Work without biasBy giving everyone the freedom to choose where and when they work, we remove the 9-5, 5-day-week structural bias from our world of work and create genuine equality of opportunity.

By judging each other on the quality of our work, we create a genuine meritocracy that removes emotional bias from our working world too.

By creating our community as an example for others to follow, we hope to inspire both individuals and companies towards our vision for a world of work without bias, which we believe will ultimately lead to a happier, more fulfilled society.

How it worksEach Hoxby decides when and where they work, creating a workstyle for themselves that fits with the other important aspects of their life.

Depending on their circumstances, this will likely mean trading traditional employment for self-employment, or a combination of the two. There are certain tax obligations that come with this, and we offer discounted internal support from an expert to help Hoxbies ensure they are set up correctly.

It’s currently free to join Hoxby but we do have a comprehensive selection process. If you are approved to join us, we then continually seek to combine your skills with other members of the community to create highly specialised teams that work together in delivering services to clients. We never put one person on a project, but instead always a combination of people who form a brilliant team.

Our teams collaborate across time zones by using cloud-based systems and proprietary processes to do so as effectively as they would if they were working in the same room.

#GiveGetWe don’t guarantee anyone work within The Hoxby Collective, but we do believe that you deserve to get out what you put in, so here is a little more about what we ask our members to give, and what you can expect to get in return:

GET- A workstyle that fits around your life and changes to suit you- More of the work you love (and less of the work you don’t) for prestigious clients in industries that particularly interest you- Belong to an inspiring community of talented and likeminded individuals around the world

Our community is only ever as strong as the contributions we make as individuals and so the ethos of #GiveGet is ever-present in the way we operate.

Earn moneyThere are three primary ways to earn income through working within The Hoxby Collective:

1. DAY RATEYou set your own day rate and get paid for chargeable work you do. Business development is done for free, but if you have worked on winning a client you have right of first refusal to work on the project. There is no cost to being part of the community and nothing is taken from your day rate.

2. COMMISSIONMembers are expected to do other work outside the community, but referring opportunities, or work to the community gets you 5% commission on the total revenue of the initial project – you also have the option to work on any project you bring in..

3. EQUITYHoxby is 25% owned by members of the collective who are invited to become equity Partners based on throwing themselves into the community, promoting the movement, and doing brilliant work. The Partners receive a share of annual company profits.

Support for HoxbiesThe Hoxby community succeeds by combining and sharing expertise. Here are a few of the ways that we enable members to support each other:

SELF BILLING - We use a timesheet system and then invoice ourselves on your behalf to save you valuable time.

PAYMENT TERMS - Regardless of our payment terms with the client, we pay all our Hoxbies 14 days after the end of the month when they deliver the work.

TAX RETURNS - For UK Hoxbies we provide heavily-discounted support with tax returns, and are looking to expand this worldwide.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT - We have our own development framework and voluntary mentoring scheme to ensure The Hoxby Collective is a long-term career choice

MEET-UPS - Whilst Slack is our virtual office, we recognise the value of personal interactions too. Hence, each month we host a Hoxby Home, renting a house for Hoxbies to work together and meet each other. Breakfast and lunch are provided and we go for drinks afterwards. We also have co-working groups and local meet-ups.

Our ServicesThe Hoxby Collective is made up of more than 300 Associates in 19 countries and growing every day. With sector expertise across multiple industries, we provide bespoke teams of all sizes and to fit all briefs, working alongside clients in the provision of marketing, sales, HR, finance, legal and admin services.

The nature of the projects we undertake are hugely varied, and dependant upon the expertise we hold within the community. From advertising, to websites, internal training, contract writing and PA services there’s a Hoxby team for just about everything.

The scale of our community means that we can provide clients with access to an unprecedented level of specialist expertise and allow them to only pay for what they really need. Our virtual operating model also significantly reduces our overheads and therefore our cost to clients.

These factors combine to make our pricing represent incredible value when compared to our competitors still working within traditional structures.

We started The Hoxby Collective with a vision to change the working world in order to create a happier more fulfilled society. Since then, word of mouth has driven our growth. Our community thrives by bringing together exceptional people from around the world, whatever their specialism and wherever they are. We welcome any level of experience and any workstyle, as long as it motivates and inspires you to deliver your best work.
