GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES Thursday, September 8 th , 2011 POSTED on CFFCA Website 09-12-11 Page 1 of 2 CFFCA President Jim White opened the regular CFFCA meeting at 11:55pm. The Roll Call sign-in journal confirmed that a quorum was present under the adopted bylaws to conduct official business and voting matters. John Pedalino [FDNY ret] performed door duty collecting lunch payments, 50/50 ticket sales, and CFFCA Challenge Coin sales for the Secretary/Treasurer. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS : President White informed the membership in attendance that the primary focus of todays meeting will be that of 9-11 Ten Years of Remembrance. The ORDER of business was announced as follows: 1. Special Program at NOON in the Hiltons Main Lobby for the Unveiling of the Hiltons 9-11 Memorial Display. 2. Reconvene Business Meeting back in Royal Palm Ballroom at around 12:30pm. 3. Buffet Lunch Served. 4. Short Business Meeting Approval of Consent Agenda and Good of the Organization Announcements. 5. 9-11 Reflection and Sharing of Remembrances Round Table. 6. Visitation and Adjournment. SPECIAL PROGRAM : The Hilton presented a program and short ceremony with the unveiling of their Tenth Anniversary 9-11 Memorial Display honoring all victims of the September 1 st , 2001 with special recognition and honors given to the FALLEN first responders on that fateful day a decade ago. The Master of Ceremony was Andrew Jones AJ, Convention Service Director at the Hilton. Speakers included Jim White CFFCA President, John Williamson FFCA President, and John Pedalino FDNY [ret] representing the We Will Never Forget 9-11 Foundation, Inc. and the Central Florida FDNY Retirees Association. Sanford FD Honor Guard members performed the unveiling followed by CFFCA Chaplain Ragan Vandegriff giving the Benediction and Dedication Prayer. The program concluded with the playing of Amazing Grace by Orlando FD Bag Pipe Player. Special 9-11 Ten Years of Remembrance Coins were presented to each program speaker, SFD Honor Guard, and OFD Bag Piper in special recognition of their program participation. After public viewing of the 9-11 Memorial and photo opportunities, the CFFCA membership returned to the meeting room for lunch and business meeting. Motion to approve September consent agenda was made by Chief Craig Haun, seconded by Division Chief Rick Fudge. Motion approved by unanimous vote of the membership present. Note: 50/50 was collected in the amount of $46 with $23 going to the ticket winner (Danny McAvoy] and $23 of the remaining 50/50 balance going to the CFFCA Treasury. Good of the Organization: President White provided the membership with an update reminder on the First Baptist Church of Orlando’s 9-11 Programs scheduled for Saturday, September 10

th 6:30pm and Sunday, September 11

th at 9am

and again at 10:45am. A First Responders reception follows each repeated 9-11 program. Special Acknowledgements and Recognition: President White presented a CFFCA Challenge Coin to the attending Honor Guard members [FF Epperson and FF Singleton] from SFD and the OFD Bag Pipe Player [District Chief Austin]. Sharing of 9-11 Stories and Remembrances: President White opened the floor to those who wished to share any experiences or stories of 9-11. Several attendees shared their thoughts and stories.

Hearing no further business from the floor and at the call of the president - President White adjourned the meeting at 1:25pm without motion.

Special Display Will Feature a World Trade Center Steel Fragment WHEN: Thursday, September 8th, 2011 12:00 Noon – 12:30PM WHERE: Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs 350 S. Northlake Blvd., Altamonte Springs [Main Lobby Area] WHAT: A ceremony will be held at the hotel in our main lobby area to honor the fallen multi-agency first responders on 9-11 and those currently protecting and serving their communities throughout our homeland. This inside memorial display is being dedicated on this tenth year anniversary in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and the passengers aboard American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 77 and United Flight 93 on that horrific day in our nation’s history. Special invitees and dignitaries consist of the Central Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association represented by President Jim White, the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association represented by President John Williamson, Seminole County Fire Rescue Department represented by Chief Leeanna Mims, Altamonte Springs Police Department represented by Chief Bob Merchant, and the President of the local FDNY 343 Organization and the Past President of the Central Florida FDNY Retirees Association, along with members of the Central Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association and other attending first responders. The memorial display will be proudly and permanently located in the hotel lobby. WHY: As part of a 9-11 tribute and a Decade of Remembrance, the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs “Blue Energy Committee” through its community outreach function has been planning a memorial dedicated to first responders. Andrew Jones, Convention Service Manager and committee team leader, headed up this project and acquired [on loan] a piece of steel from “Ground Zero” at the World Trade Center for the memorial display from the “We Shall Never Forget 9-11 Foundation, Inc.” located in the Central Florida area. PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: Sanford Fire Department’s Honor Guard [standing POST] will assist in the unveiling of the memorial display along with the dignitaries in attendance making a few remarks. Program will conclude with a “Prayer of Dedication” and Amazing Grace played by an Orlando Fire Department Bag Piper.
