General Motors Core Return Portal

Accessing the Core Return Portal To access the Core Return Center portal site, complete the following steps.

1. From Global Connect, click App Center. 2. Click Core Return tile.

Note: If you cannot log on to the Core Return Portal, contact the Global Connect Helpdesk.

Your Information The Your Information screen is the first screen that appears after you log on. The screen appears as follows:

This screen includes your dealer information and provides a status overview on all created returns. This screen gives a snapshot of where your core is during the core return process (open, shipped, received at crossdock, received at the GM core return center, inspected, and credited).

The Announcements, Information etc. section provides updates about the Core Return Portal or the core return program. These announcements are provided on an as-needed basis and are viewable by clicking the document icon.

Note: If any of the information in the dealer identification box is incorrect, contact the GM Core Customer Service team at 833-918-3537.

Submit Returns Screen The primary focus of the core return portal is to allow you the ability to submit a core application electronically. On the Submit Returns screen, you can do the following actions:

• Add parts to a return application • Add a serial or a reference number to a part • Add warranty information • Finalize return application • Print part labels and packing slip • Delete return or delete parts to an existing return application

Adding Parts to a Return Application To start preparing your core return application, do the following:

1. On the Returns menu, click Submit Returns. 2. Click Start Here.

The part list entry appears:

3. From either text box, key in parts individually or copy and paste multiple part numbers

and quantities. 4. Click Add to List to add parts to a return application.

The system will automatically classify these parts as either heavy core, light core, or fascia.

5. View the History table to ensure all parts were added. Parts that have no credit value

will appear as “Ineligible for Return” in the message column and will not be added to the return application.

6. Click on the return application type (heavy, light, or fascia) that you wish to manage. The parts added on the return application will appear below.

7. From this screen, you can apply reference information to multiple line items, remove parts, adjust quantities, or enter warranty claim information on damaged cores.

8. If necessary, repeat step 3 to continue to add parts to the return. You can view the date and time of updates made to an open return application, from the Updates box. History does not reflect parts that have been deleted from a return

Tip: To cancel or clear the parts list at any time, click the checkbox next to the image at the top of the parts list. Click Delete Selected to delete all parts at one time.

Adding Reference Information You may enter reference information for your records. This information is not required for our system, but they may benefit you. Entries in these boxes are optional. Once a part is added to a return application type, you can add reference information to that part. Reference information can also be added to multiple parts.

Adding reference information to a part

• On the Submit Returns screen, under the Reference column, type the information in their respective boxes.

Adding multiple references • On the Submit Returns screen, in the Add Reference to Checked text box, type in the

reference information.

Adding a warranty claim number

• If the part is warranty, you can add a warranty claim number in the Warranty textbox. Warranty items must be on separate line items from other core parts.

Note: Only apply warranty claim information on damaged parts to guarantee core credit.

Finalizing a Return Application Once you have all the parts you want to return, finalize the return application to complete the order.

Tip: A packing slip and part labels are available after finalizing the return application.

1. Click the check box next to the return application type Heavy, Light, or Fascia. You can

select more than one return type at a time. 2. Click Finalize Application to complete the order.

Caution: Dealer must still complete the Material Returns PC302 and Tracking tile in Global Connect. Application will populate, and continue processing as normal.

Printing Parts Labels and Packing Slip After finalizing a return application, printing the part labels and packing slip becomes available. Chrome is the preferred browser for the core portal.

Caution: Part labels must be attached to the part.

To print labels after finalizing your return application, do the following:

1. Select the return number from the list for either labels or packing slip.

2. After finalizing the return, select the return application number.

Printing in Chrome

1. The label sheet 2 1/3” By 3 3/8” 8 Label Sheet is selected, and the print preview screen populates. If it does not populate, select the red “Print” button.

Note: The Zebra printer option is currently not available.

2. Ensure the print settings are correct:

a. Select More settings b. Select the Margins drop-down, and then select None. c. Ensure the Scale is set to Custom and 100. d. From Options, select the Background Graphics check box.

3. Select Print to print the part labels. 4. To print the packing slip, select the return number you need to print. 5. Select the Print button.

Note: These settings should automatically save, and you should not have to change the print settings again.

Printing in Internet Explorer

1. The label sheet 2 1/3” By 3 3/8” 8 Label Sheet is selected, and the print preview screen populates. If it does not populate, select the red “Print” button.

2. Right-click on any white space, and select Print Preview from the list of options.

3. From the new print preview screen, select the gear icon, located on the top-left toolbar, to open the Page Setup window.

4. From the Page Setup window, do the following:

a. Ensure the Print Background Color and Images check box is selected. b. Ensure the Enable Shrink-to-Fit check is not selected. c. Change all the margins to zero. The margins should default to 0.166. d. Ensure the Headers and Footers drop-downs have Empty selected.

5. Select OK to close the Page Setup window. 6. Select the print icon to print the part labels.

7. To print the packing slip, select the return number you need to print. 8. Repeat steps 1-3. 9. From Page Setup, do one of the following:

• Switch page to Landscape, or • Deselect the Enable Shrink-to-Fit check box.

+ 10. Select OK to close the Page Setup window.

11. Select the print icon to print the packing slip.

Deleting a Part from an Open Return Application If you no longer need a part on a return, you can delete the part from the return.

1. From the open return, select one or more check boxes next the part image.

2. Click Delete Selected. 3. Click OK to delete the part.

Deleting an Open Return Application If you no longer need the return, you are able to delete the entire open return application.

• From the open return application, click the checkbox next to the image at the top of the parts list. Click Delete Selected to delete all parts at one time.

Tip: You cannot delete a return application after it has been finalized. You must contact GM Customer Service 833-918-3537.

Track Return Applications You can track return applications to see where your return application is in the core return process.

Return Status The Return Status option allows you to view detailed information about your return applications. Select one of the following drop-down lists Heavy, Light, or Fascia to view the details:

• Shipped • Received at the Crossdock • Received at the GM Core Return Center • Inspected • Credited

You can also search from a return application by using the Search Application text box, located at the top of the screen

Once you select a return application, information about your application displays on this screen. Information about the submit date, inspection date, credit value, credit date, and invoice number can be found on this screen. You can also find identifying information about the parts in the application, such as part number, description, and applied defect codes.

Intercept Parts If you accidentally sent a part or if you forgot to send a part with the return application, you can choose to request the part be returned or you can cancel the part from the return application in the core return portal. In the core portal, this process is defined as an Intercept Request.

1. Go to Return Status on the Returns menu. 2. Locate the return application from the drop-down or search for the return application in

the search box. 3. Find the line item that you wish to intercept, and then select the Intercept Request

button to the right of the line item.

4. From the pop-up, select to either cancel the part from the return application or request

that the part be returned.

5. Enter in the reason for the return or cancelation, and then press Intercept.

If you chose to cancel, the item will be canceled immediately. If you chose to have the item returned to you, the item will be sent back as soon as possible.

Note: You can only intercept a part if the return application is in the shipped or received at crossdock stage. If the core application is in the inspected stage, you will not be able to intercept the part.

Material Identification This Material Identification option allows you to search the core database for parts and provides detailed information about the part. To search for a part, type a part number, core group, core class, or a product type in the Search box. The information populates on this screen.

Core criteria and defect codes are also available on this screen. You can click the following icons to view information about the part.

Click the PDF to view the core criteria that the inspectors use. Core criteria allows you visibility into the inspection process.

• Click the calculator to view information about defects and deductions. You can calculate the credit amount by selecting the check boxes that match the condition of your part. The defect codes calculate what credit amount is to be

received based on that defect code. These deducts can only be applied by the inspector.

Search Applications The Search Applications option allows you to search return applications in the core return portal.

Searching for return applications To search for a return, do the following:

1. On the Part Info & History menu, click Search Returns. 2. Type the number in the search box, and then click Search. 3. Select a data range to narrow down search results.

Sales History From the Sales History option, you can view information on your past sales. Filter results by date range, invoice number, and part.

Return History From the Return History option, you can view information on your past returns. Filter results by date range, invoice number, and part number.

Reprint Packing/Labels To reprint a packing slip or part labels, do the following.

1. Select the return number from the list for either labels or packing slip.

2. After finalizing the return, select the return application number.

Help & Support This menu provides additional information and support. You may also contact the GM Core Return Center Customer Service at 833-918-3537.

Notify Management You can receive email notifications about shipment inquiries. Additionally, you can receive an email notifications for one or more of the following:

• Received – Select this check box to receive an email notification as parts are received at the GM Core Return Center.

• Credited – Select this check box to receive an email notification at the time the returns are credited.

Note: you will not receive a detailed email about the return in the state you selected. This is only a notification to direct your attention to the core portal and review the return.

Adding an Email Contact

• Type in the email address in the Email Contact box, and then click Add. The email address displays under the Contacts section of this page.

Deleting an Email Contact

• Select the check box next to the email address that you want to delete, and then click Delete Selected.

Contact Us Click this option to contact customer service support. If you have any questions, encounter an issue, or have a request, click this option.

• A dialog box appears for you to enter the information. Type in the information, and then click Request to send an email to the support team. Customer Service will contact you to answer your questions.

FAQs The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) provides information about the core return process and the GM Core Return Center website. These questions and answers are available to you for reference.

Document Library The Document Library provides additional information, help documentation, and announcements concerning the GM Core Return Portal. All documents are maintained by the GM Core Return Center.
