General note on the Commander cards
Commander names – It is common that a fully detailed order of
battle is not available. In the scenario lists, the Wing commanders are
identified where they are known. However, on occasion,
commander’s names may be conjectural and based on units that were
present. If you want to swap any names to make it easier for you to
use your existing units then please feel free to amend the cards.
Army, and Higher, Commanders
These types do not normally have Commander cards as their function
is at a higher level than the actions of a Wing. They will still need
physical bases on the table.
In some instances, the Army Commander may become actively
engaged in leading a Wing rather than leading his army, for example
both Baner and Hatzfeld at Wittstock. In these instances, a Command
card is needed and has been included.
Making the cards -
You will need some reasonably stiff card and basic PVA glue.
The cards are set at 5cm wide and 7.5cm long. If you want a different
size use the scaling facility in your PDF reader or in your printer
properties.
I’ve found it easier to make the card blanks before doing any gluing.
It’s easier to trim the paper to the card than it is to trim the card to
the paper.
Glue one side of the cards first to ensure alignment. Spread your glue
evenly on one side of the card and place the long edge of your print
on to your card. Smooth the print with a soft dry cloth, or something
similar, to give a good even finish.
When you are satisfied with the alignment repeat the gluing and
smoothing for the second side.
Set aside to dry. This is an important part of the process as damp paper
can tear quite easily and it would be a shame to have to reprint the
card.
