The vocational training and career certifications offered through the Goodwill Career and Technical Academy (GTCA) are life-changing. They provide a platform for low-income, undereducated and underemployed people in our community to gain skills in high-demand, high-growth industries such as technology and healthcare. Many high paying jobs in rapidly growing industries do not require two or four-year degrees. Instead, they require specialized

skills and know-how gained through specific training and credentialing programs. These programs are the key to unlocking opportunity for low-skilled employees, while simultaneously meeting the labor shortage that forces Texas businesses to import talent and export low-skill jobs. Goodwill is relentlessly focused on creating opportunities that ensure Texans keep pace and flourish in the labor force.

THE GCTA ELIMINATES BARRIERS FACED BY PEOPLE PURSUING EDUCATION AND CAREER ADVANCEMENT.

• GCTA students may concurrently enroll in The Goodwill Excel Center, the only public high school for adults, aged 17-50, in Texas.

• We offer short-term classes customized to employer needs.

• We provide holistic support including childcare to Pre-K, transportation, food pantry access and clothing closet.

• Life Coaches and Career Case Managers assist with navigating challenges and ensuring long-term success.

• We offer additional training including financial literacy and budget planning, digital literacy, job readiness/soft skill training, interview skills, and resume development.

• We connect directly with employers to place trained graduates in jobs.
