GeneratorCare™ offers repair and upgrade solutions designed to improve the lifetime of

your wind turbines and reduce your O&M costs, including exclusive uptower solutions for

V90-3.0 MW Leroy Somer generators.

With more than 3,000 generators under care annually and more than 27,000 turbines

under performance monitoring, Vestas knows better than anyone else what it takes to

offer continuous improvements of repair solutions and upgrades.

Workshop repairs are carried out in Vestas’ generator repair factory in Germany or in

one of our partnership factories around the globe.

hensive service programme which enables you to have gen-

erators repaired, updated and exchanged as soon as defects

are detected or through proactive inspections carried out by

experienced service technicians with the aid of wind turbine

performance data.

tors – making us a genuine fleetwide service partner. Over three

decades of operational development and continuous R&D in-

vestment have put us at the forefront of the global wind industry,

Uptower and onsite repairsCarrying out repairs uptower and onsite is the most cost-effi-

cient renovation method available, potentially saving you 60%

of the price of a new generator. That is why we at Vestas continu-

ously pursue to offer as many uptower solutions as possible,

currently including:

• Bearing exchanges

• Rebalancing

• Rotor cable replacement

GeneratorCare™ includes the exclusive uptower repair solution

for Leroy Somer generators for 3 MW turbines. Most Leroy Somer

failures can be repaired uptower, which means minimal produc-

tion losses and costs for this popular generator brand.

Repair loops and workshop repairsTo help you minimise downtime, GeneratorCare™ offers a unique

generator exchange programme using repair loops from our

workshops. To secure a fast return to service, we carry a stock of

replacement generators for most turbines, and we can deliver a

replacement generator to your site in a minimum of time.

If you prefer a 1:1 exchange, we bring your generator to our

industry-leading workshop facilities. In Lübeck, Germany, we

have a 6,500 m2 workshop, acting as a lighthouse for new repair

development and repair shop. The site is equipped with winding

machines, assembling and extensive testing facilitation.

Here we are able to conduct in-depth analysis and troubleshoot

the full scope of technical problems, with access to a wide range

of skilled personnel and technology. In the repair shops, we dis-

mantle, clean and inspect every generator in turn, before writing

the report on the required renovations and interventions. During

the repair process, each generator undergoes a rigorous lifetime

test. If the required repair work is not deemed profitable after

taking the generator age and other features into account, we will

recommend a new or refurbished generator.

All generators are available as spare parts.

Damage classification Once your generator is inspected, repair category A, B, C or D is

selected. The repair categories reflect the condition of the gen-

erator, so we can credit you accordingly.

Industry standardsEvery generator that leaves our factory or workshop – whether

new or repaired – is tested in line with international manufacturing

standards, including a full load test. Our work processes adhere to

ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001:2007, and are

certified by German Lloyd to provide total quality assurance.
