Majority of horror poster have an important character on the front which may be either an antagonist or protagonist, the character is usually centered of the poster so the main focus is on them and they are centre of attention , the characters on the horror posters don’t always reveal themselves which creates fear and mystery as the audience doesn’t become familiar with the character on the film poster as they often have a shadow covering their face or they have their back to the camera so you cant see their face especially if the character on the film poster is the antagonist. However it is still generic for the character to be looking at the camera as it makes it eye-catching for the audience, the image they use can be disturbing for the audience which makes it obvious it is a horror poster as if the antagonist is staring at you making them seem real as though you’re a victim. The film title is also shown on the poster and is usually in the same font as it is on the website and on the trailer so the audience can easily recognise the text and remember what film it is relating to, the font size of the posters are normally in the largest font so it is most eye catching and as it is the most important part of the poster, the title is usually so large so the audience are more likely to remember the film titles name so they can easily recognise it when it comes out in cinemas so they’ll more likely go watch it.There is also a tagline on horror posters which is short so the audiences remembers it and will know the tag line is related to the specific movie they are interested in. There are also institutional logos that are on the bottom of the poster, this gives the audience some extra information which are also found on the website and in the trailer.

HORROR Main image – the main image is showing one character but not revealing her features so it doesn’t reveal too much to the audience. The image on the possession poster is quite troubling showing it is a horror poster so it targets the right audience.

Release date – the release date is in larger font than the rest of the credits and is in red to make it more eye catching as it important for the audience to remember the release date to watch the film

Credits – credits are always shown at the bottom of a horror poster, the font is small as it isn’t as important as other information on the poster, but if the audience wants to find out more about the film they can look here to see the website and social media for the film

Tagline – the tagline for this poster represents what the film is about and links well with the image and the film title to keep the theme across the poster, the tagline is there to catch the audiences attention so they remember it and can easily recognise the film with the tag line, they have also stated at the top of the poster that is based on a true story this is to try to get people to watch the film and makes it more scary as it really happened

Film title – the film title is set in the largest font and has what looks like a slit through the title to symbolise the horror genre, it is easy to read and in a clear font so the audience are more likely to remember the movie
