Distance Learning Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses AY 2020/2021
Self-Funded SKE Courses
Our courses are based on the latest DfE specications and built around a series of high-quality presentations that will guide you through the subject content at the desired level (GCSE, A-level or both).
Your progress is assessed during the course via a combination of Assessments, Audits, Summaries and Reections, which help you identify areas of strength and areas for development.
You will have access to our new Virtual Lesson (VL) resources. These resources are delivered by experienced, practicing teachers and provide a great contrast to the main recordings.
Virtual Lessons is a truly innovative way to experience how a topic is taught and experience all of the components that make up a lesson. We have the complete GCSE curriculum covered with VL in our SKE subjects.
Whilst all Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses are specied at 25 hours study per week for a certain number of weeks, you can take as long as you wish to nish them as long as you complete the total number of hours and complete before your training begins (usually September 2021).

Course Structure VL Resources
We oer courses in the following subjects:• Mathematics• Physics• Chemistry
• Biology• Geography• MFL
• Computer Science• English• Religious Education
SKE funding from the Department for Education (DfE) is currently frozen. The very dicult circumstances we all nd ourselves in has meant that the government have found it necessary to delay the release of this year’s SKE funding strategy.
Further details regarding the subjects that will be funded together with bursary payments are scheduled to be released by the DfE by the end of the calendar year 2020. However, there is no guarantee that SKEs will be funded this academic year. We are unsure of the subjects and course durations that will be supported but indications are that a reduced portfolio of nancial support is likely.
Important Information regarding SKE funding
We reduced our prices to the bone to oer Self-Funded SKEsAs a major provider of distance learning SKE for more than a decade, we know the positive eects these courses have on Trainees. We have been consulting with the ITT community whilst waiting for information regarding funding and it’s clear that the community agree, an SKE before or during your training will signicantly improve your condence as a Trainee and Newly Qualied Teacher. It is this conrmation that has inspired us to oer self-funded online SKEs at the lowest price available.
VIDLEARN® oer the full range of SKE courses - Now!
complete before your training begins (usually September 2021).
While trainees can only complete an SKE in their specialist subject, we at Vidlearn acknowledge the fact that most science trainees will teach across the three sciences. As such, on ALL our science courses trainees get access to the Core GCSE resources for all three sciences (and on our 16, 20 and 28-week courses they also get access to the Core A-level resources for all three sciences). Trainees have access to these resources during their SKE, ITT and NQT year to fully support their teaching across the sciences.
