Abraham

Promises to Abram

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV)

1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your

family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great

nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a

blessing.

Promises to Abram

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV)

3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you;

And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

God’s Promises to the People of Israel

Ezekiel 11:17 (NKJV)

Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples,

assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will

give you the land of Israel.”’*Gather the Jewish people from countries all over the world and return you to the land of Israel

God’s Promises to the People of Israel

Isaiah 66:8-9 (NLT)

8 Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment?

But by the time Jerusalem’s birth pains begin, her children will be born. 9 Would I ever bring this nation to the point of birth and then not deliver it?” asks the Lord. “No! I would never keep this nation from being born,” says your

God.

God’s Promises to the People of Israel

Amos 9:14-15 (CJB)

14 I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel; they will rebuild and

inhabit the ruined cities; they will plant vineyards and drink their wine, cultivate gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant

them on their own soil, no more to be uprooted from their land, which I gave

them,” says Adonai your God.

God’s Promises to the People of Israel

Psalms 102:12-13 (NKJV)

But You, O Lord, shall endure forever, And the remembrance of Your name to all generations. You will arise and have

mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come.

GOD’S LOVE FOR JERUSALEM

• God expresses His love and favor for Jerusalem (Isaiah 60-66)• Jesus expresses His love and favor

for Jerusalem

Matthew 27:37bHow often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen

gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.

What I am not saying!

1. That the government of Israel is perfect and all of their decisions are just

2. That Jewish people will be saved without faith in Jesus

3. That we should not love and not evangelize Palestine

What I am not saying!

4. That the Church should return to the Jewish practices under the Law

5. That we can predict the timing of the Lord’s second coming

Has the Church replaced Israel?

Replacement TheologyThere are those who, as they read the Scriptures, see no further place for Israel in the purposes of God for his dealings with mankind. This belief is known as ‘Replacement Theology’. It is, as its name suggests, — a doctrine of replacement — specifically that God has turned from using the Jewish people to using the Church, and that the nation of Israel has no longer any special significance.

IS THERE ANY TRUTH IN IT?

We need to ask ourselves what basis of truth there is in Replacement Theology. If there were none at all, then such a large part of the Church would not have been deceived by it. Something which is obviously wrong confuses no one, but if a little truth is mixed with error, it becomes a much more powerful instrument of deception.

IS THERE ANY TRUTH IN IT?

This is where the Church finds itself on the issue of Replacement Theology. At first glance it appears to be right. After all is God not using the Church?

IS THERE ANY TRUTH IN IT?

Is it not the Church that is reaching out to a lost and needy world while the Jewish nation, albeit once significant, now preoccupies itself in isolation with some ancient rules and regulations about Holy Days and special dietary requirements? Why then do we say that Replacement Theology is wrong? Furthermore, if it is wrong, does it matter?

Paul is often credited for the view of Replacement

Theology Galatians 3:28

Neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, bond or free in the Kingdom of God

• Paul wrote a letter to the Church in Rome. In the letter he deals with the Gentiles who already were having a distain for Israel and their thoughts that God was finished with them. Because of these views they were walking in an arrogance toward the people of Israel.

God still has a plan for Israel

Romans 11:1, 7-8 (NKJV)

1 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. . . 7 What then?

What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and

the rest were hardened; 8 just as it is written, "God GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF

STUPOR, EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT, DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY.”

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:11-27 (NKJV)

11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to

the Gentiles, to make them jealous. 12 Now if their transgression is riches for the

world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their

fulfillment be!

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:11-27 (NKJV)

13 But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14 if somehow I might

move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of

them.

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:11-27 (NKJV)

15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will

their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 If the first piece of

dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are

too.

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:11-27 (NKJV)

17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild

olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, 18 do

not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the

root, but the root supports you.

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:11-27 (NKJV)  19 You will say then, “Branches

were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 Quite right, they

were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not

be conceited, but fear;

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:21-27 (NKJV)

21 for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare

you, either. 22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to

those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also

will be cut off.

God still has a plan for revival for Israel

Romans 11:21-27 (NKJV)

23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be

grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were

cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who

are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?

Not Spiritual Israel, but Literal Israel

Romans 11:25-27 (NKJV)25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery — so that you will not be wise in your

own estimation — that a partial hardening has happened to Israel

until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. . .

Not Spiritual Israel, but Literal Israel

Romans 11:25-27 (NKJV)26 and so all Israel will be saved;

just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” 27 “This is

My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”

*YES, JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY!

I am Fully Convinced

Romans 11 is a mandate, in my opinion, for the church to continue to love, pray for, and support Israel: 1. The Jewish people have a temporary

spiritual blindness on them (v. 25).2. The fullness of the Gentiles (v. 25)

will provoke Israel to seek Jesus for salvation (v.11).

3. Israel will have a Jesus awakening (v. 26).

I am Fully Convinced

Believers who are ignorant of the temporary spiritual blindness in Israel will wrongly conclude that God is finished with Israel, instead of laboring for their salvation and full destiny in God.

I am Fully Convinced

Romans 11:25 I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this

mystery … that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the

fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

I am Fully Convinced

Salvation: Salvation coming to the Gentiles speaks of more than individuals being born again. It refers to the Gentiles being anointed as God’s primary instrument to bring the gospel to the nations and giving a witness of the gospel to all nations (Matthew 24:14).

I am Fully Convinced

Romans 11:11, 2511 Through their fall, to provoke

them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles… 25 Blindness in part

has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. Blindness: 1. Not fully 2. Not permanently

God has given them the land (Genesis13)

International House of Prayer

God has connected the fullness of the Gentiles and Israel to each other; we are in this together. Neither the Jews nor the Gentiles will reach fullness without the other. The fullness of God will be released as the fullness of both Israel and the Gentiles come together (Eph. 3:6-10, 18-19).
