Halloween (1978)

Halloween is about Michael Myers, who as a child was institutionalised which drove him crazy. He eventually managed to escape on a wild rampage and he goes on a killing spree as his doctor tries to track him down.

Scream (1996)

Scream is a film about a town in which a series of related murders take place with connection to a high school. This nineties era was an era of horrors where the killer was unknown and it took investigation to find out who the killer was.

Page 4: Genre change

Hostel (2005)

This film focuses on three men who go away on a typical ‘lads’ holiday which all goes wrong. They get killed off one by one, through forms of torture. However, one manages to survive leaving the narrative open for a sequel. This era is predominantly focusing on the gore and torture aspect of horror.
