UNESCO is launching a new website titled, The World’s Most Fascinating Places, and you have been chosen to create a section on your favourite World Heritage Site. 1. Select a World Heritage Site 2. Research your site, collect information, data, images and video (see

research plan on the next page) 3. Create your presentation Did you know? There are numerous World Heritage listed sites right here in the New England. You can find out more from the links below:

Research Action Plan To develop a Research Action Plan the following steps should be taken: Step 1 Identify the aim/purpose of the investigation. Step 2 Generate a number of focus questions to be addressed by the

investigation. Step 3 Decide which primary and secondary data are needed to answer the

focus questions. Step 4 Identify the techniques that will be used to collect the data. Step 5 Collect primary and secondary data. Step 6 Process and analyse the data collected. Step 7 Select presentation methods to communicate the research findings

effectively. Step 8 Propose individual or group action in response to the research

findings and, where appropriate, take such action.

Year 7 Geography Assessment Task 1 Marking Criteria

17-20 (A)

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of chosen world heritage site and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

13-16 (B)

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of chosen world heritage site and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

9-12 (C)

The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of a chosen world heritage site and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

5-8 (D)

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of chosen world heritage site and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.

1-4 (E)

The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding of chosen world heritage site and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.
