Alvaro Arranz was born in Madrid in 1984. He obtained his Industrial Engineering degree, majoring in electronic engineering, from Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICAI in 2007. Currently he is finishing his PhD on Computer Vision and working as a researcher and developer at Bitmonlab in Zed Worldwide. His research interests include Computer Vision, Robotics, Intelligent Systems and Human-Computer interaction.
Angel Ramos: Degree as Technical Engineer in Systems Computer Science. Developer at Zed World Wide in R&D projects. 15+ years experience in IT Companies (Software Architect, System Engineer and Software Engineer). Currently interested on Software Engineering, IoT, Speech Recognition, Smart Cities and Machine learning
Bitmonlab’s Smart Services Team
Guillermo Amat: Graduated in Computer Science in 2003 (Universitat Jaume I). Project Manager at Zed World Wide since 2006 where he has lead several R&D projects. 11+ years experience in ICT market (technology architect, project manager). Currently interested on Smart Cities, Geographic Information Systems, Open Source Software and technology in general.
10
Javier Fernández Pérez: Graduated in Computer Science and currently studying a master of artificial intelligence at National Distance Education University (UNED). Backend developer at Zed World Wide since 2012 where he has participated in several projects of the company. Currently interested on autonomous robotics, human-robot interaction, evolutionary algorithms, indoor location and routing
Percepción is a smart city prototype deployed in a smaller space, a university campus. The system offers information services to students, teachers and university staff adapted to new technologies and mobile devices.
Despite being developed as a testing scenario, the solution is exportable to any type of venue (one building / several buildings) and even entire cities.
The project has been developed in collaboration with leading entities in the research of the involved technologies.

Indoor GIS: our work covered in a paper published in the AGILE 2014 conference Using Open Street Maps data and tools for indoor mapping in
a Smart City scenario. Amat, Guillermo ; Fernández, Javier ; Arranz, Álvaro ; Ramos, Angel.
Wifi fingerprint accuracy: after all the improvements we reached and average error of 3,5 m
Speech recognition stats: the recognition match for user sentences is 80%

Our Technologies for Smart Cities
A geographical information system is needed to support theproject. We use Open Street Maps resources to introduceindoor information such as name, usage, geometrics forrooms, corridors, levels, elevators, etc. All these tags aredefined as specified in OSM’s indoor draft.
In addition, in order to provide outdoor andindoor combined navigation, Open TripPlanner is integrated in the solution with therest of components.

Developing more location methods
In a previous research we developed a speech recognition and dialogue manager. This interface provides interaction with a mobile application focused on a Smart City scenario.
The main feature of the developed technology is the system specialization. Other products like Siri or Google Search are designed as a general purpose assistants while our system is trained to respond to a set of topics. This approach cannot provide answers to any kind of question but allows a better accuracy in the targeted domain. For example, Smart Campus does not provide weather information but is more accurate detecting questions about building usages or smart city available services.

A web managed service to help IoT developers to create applications using multiple IoT devices
Providing: A web console to manage devices and its data. APIs to communicate devices with the core platform
and between them.
New Smart Cities scenarios: parking, interactive lighting
Big Data in the Smart City
