Geoff Whelan

Counsellor (Industry, Science, Energy and Resources), Australian High Commission, New Delhi, India

Mr Geoff Whelan is the Counsellor (Industry, Science, Energy and Resources) at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi, India.

Prior to starting with the High Commission, Geoff held a number of energy and resources related roles, including most recently leading a taskforce assisting the Chief Scientist in his audit of offshore exploration regulatory practices. Geoff also led drafting of the National Resources Statement and worked for a number of years on retail energy matters.

Geoff worked at the Treasury on the Harper Competition Policy Review in addition to having worked in the United Kingdom public service, the former Federal Magistrates Court and in a UK Council.

Geoff is trained in law and science, and received his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University.
