Why do geological mapping?Geological mapping is vastly under-utilised in mineral exploration and mining. It provides the primary control on geology and underpins the decision-making at all stages of the exploration process.

Effective exploration requires a good understanding of geological and metallogenic processes. Geological, structural and alteration mapping of surface exposures, underground or in drill hole, provides the underlying geological control as well as fluid pathways and the geometry of mineralisation.

Using geological mapping as a basis for exploration, mineralisation can be more effectively targeted and interpreted in terms of the underlying geology and the overall prospectivity of a project area. Unlike many other exploration techniques, geological mapping has a fast turnaround time and provides focused drill targets in a matter of weeks.
