The Sphere

The maximum distance through the sphere is called the diameter, it is twice the size of the radius.

A sphere is a perfectly round three dimensional shape similar to a round ball you might play soccer or basketball with.

All points on the surface of a sphere are the same distance from the center.

The Cube A cube is a three dimensional shape that features all right angles and

a height, width and depth that are all equal

Most dice are cube shaped, featuring the numbers 1 to 6 on the different faces.

A cube is a special geometric shape that falls into a number of groups including platonic solids and regular hexahedrons.

The Octagon

An octagon has 8 straight sides.

When all angles are equal and all sides are equal it is regular, otherwise it is irregular.

Has interior angles that add to 1080 degrees

The Cylinder A cylinder is a three dimensional object with a circular base and

straight parallel sides that looks similar to a can of coke.

Right Cylinder: A right cylinder is a cylinder in which the centers of the bases are aligned directly one above the other.

Oblique Cylinder: When the centers of the bases of a cylinder are not aligned directly one above the other, it is called an oblique cylinder.

The Cone

The cone has a flat base, one curved side, and because it has a curved surface it is not a polyhedron.

A cone is a three dimensional object with a circular base that narrows toward a point, it looks similar to an ice cream cone.

The cone has one vertex.

The Rectangular Prism is… A prism with rectangular bases.

There are six faces.

All faces meet at 90 degrees.

Opposite faces are parallel.
