MR.J: "i gave 110% to get to where I am"

o Michael Robert Jefferson music is an essential. He lives and breathes music. To Michael Robert Jefferson, creating the perfect lyrics, gives him a feeling nothing else can compare to. Ever since childhood Mr.J has revolved his life around sound and as a child was constantly making beats with his hands. He shone above others through school when it came to using instruments and music technology. His parents however did not believe him to be good enough for the big time. At the age of 16 he gave up on his education and began creating instrumentals from his room.

“It was the most dramatic period of my teenage years, missing out on making friends...”

At the early age of 17 Michael was told to find a job or else he would be homeless. This was a wake up call for Mr.J whilst looking for a job he would give out his mixtape with his contact details around Birmingham Town Centre. In the first night he was swarmed with requests to make more instrumen-tals. He was very shocked with the outcome and began making his first set of instrumentals which he then posted over sites like Youtube, Facebook and Myspace. Getting thousands of comments and requests per week, Mr.J could see a career dawn-ing. Michaels fans were curious though as to why Michael did not have singers in his tracks.

T Mr.J decided it would be very wrong to ignore his fans requests so he began searching over the internet for unknown artists trying to make it big in the music industry (just like him.) He met the likes of Pixie Lott and Skepta. They would send him their mixtapes and he would render the singing onto his own intstrumentals to make high class tunes. Within two weeks of posting these tracks on his myspace his fame had begun

“I spent most of my time after my myspace success writing lyrics for my newly aquired artists, I thought of lyrics constantly even whilst eating breakfast MUSIC IS LIKE CEREAL TO ME NOW!...”

Given the current circumstances , he had no money and no job. And was beginning to lose his parents consideration and care. He was then kicked out of his own home and was told he was not welcome to come back until he had sorted his life out. He was then taken in by his Grand-mother. His Nan unlike his parents believed he had a real talent so she provided all the help she could. For a long time he had no feedback on his latest tracks and Michael began to give up hope until one very important phonecall from Keith Major the Executive owner of Ecko records. He offered Michael an interview with some producers, ofcourse Mr.J would attend >

and was very successful being offered a £1,000,000 recording contract. After 6 Months he released his de-but album“The Globe is Mine” and his first track “People of the Party” went straight to number 1 and was named the Anthem of the Summer by NME.
