1. The word geothermal was created by two Greek words, geo ( -which means earth ) and therme ( which means heat ). 2. It is basically heat energy from the ground. 3. To get steam from the ground and turn it to energy it has to go through pipes.

How did we discover it?

It is known that geothermal energy was discovered more than 10 000 years ago.It was discovered in North America by American Paleo Indians. They actually used it for cleaning and bathing.The first time it was actually used for energy was in the late 18th century near Pisa, Italy.
