Geren currently represents parts of Fort Worth, Azle, Briar, Pecan Acres, River Oaks, Saginaw and Sansom Parkand all of Blue Mound, Lake Worth, Lakeside, Pelican Bay, White Settlement, Westworth Village and Westover Hills. Geren has been named three times to Texas Monthly’s “Ten Best Legislator” list. During this past session, the press lauded him as the man who saved tax relief. “First, Texans created the ‘Texas Miracle,’” said Geren. ”Now, despite a falling oil market, Texas continues to prosper. Texas is a living, working laboratory of how conservative policies succeed. As other states raise taxes, we lower taxes.” A long-time supporter of the Second Amendment, this session Geren again voted to expand gun rights. Geren is consistently A-Rated by the National Rifle Association. In a prior session, Geren voted to stop Texas from enforcing Obama administration firearm controls. Last Session Geren supported banning late-term abortions, helping pass the plan that recently withstood attacks in the Court System. A small business owner himself, Geren is focused on making Texas a place job creators want to locate. He has earned the Guardian of Small Business and Most Valuable Player awards from the National Federation of Independent Business/Texas, as well as entry into the Texas Realtors Association's Hall of Fame. “In each Session, I have helped moved the issues of life, liberty, and free enterprise steadily forward,” said Geren. “I am proud we have done it in a way that prevents liberals from undoing our work in the courts.” Rep. Geren has served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House, Fort Worth Zoo, Lena Pope Home, and Junior Achievement. He is a trustee of Texas Christian University and is Vice President of the Southwestern Exposition & Livestock Show. From 1981 to 1990 he was a Deputy to the United States Marshals Service.
