Budhas been active in Rotary and has been recognized nation-ally as an Outstanding Young Man in Business.

"Although I have enjoyed these years working in acareer I love, it is time for me to take a step in a new direc-tion. As I enter my fiftieth year in the jewelry business, It'stime for me to spend more time with my wife Mary Pat.We look forward to doing some traveling and spendingmore time with our grandchildren and great-grandchil-dren. But don't be surprised to see me in the store fromtime to time, because my heart is still in the business thathas been so much a part of me for all these years."

"In celebration of my retirement we will be offeringlarge discounts on all in-stock merchandise. We havemany beautiful pieces of jewelry on-hand for yourself orthat special someone in your life."

Bud Walsh is retiring. After 49 years in the jewelry business, it is time to turn the keys over to a new generation.

Steeped in tradition, weddingshave featured many of the same com-ponents for centuries. Those about totie the knot may feel somewhat limit-ed in their ability to shape their wed-dings into unique celebrations of their

relationships and love for one another.Although it may not seem like thereare many opportunities to put yourown stamp on the wedding, there areplenty of ways to do just that.

When looking to personalize yourwedding ceremony, determine if theremight be anything blocking you fromdoing so. For example, if yours will bea religious ceremony, there may becertain rites that need to be followed.Secular ceremonies may offer moreopportunities to customize.

    • Vows: Vows are one of the easiestways to put a personal touch on yourwedding. You can select the words youwant to exchange during the ceremo-ny as well as any readings during the

service. Work with your officiant tonarrow down particular phrasing orsentiments that fit with your vision of the wedding and relationship.

    • Participants: Wedding partymembers fulfill certain roles duringthe ceremony, but they are not limit-ed to those tasks alone. Consider ask-ing wedding party members or other

friends or family members to takspecialized roles in the wedding.may be able to do certain readescort guests to their seats, lightdles, or sing and participate in ways.

    • Musical interludes: Choose that connects with your personaas a couple rather than selecting dard songs merely because thethe easier route. Work with the oist or other musicians and requestthey perform or play musical pthat you enjoy.

    • Candle lighting: Many colike to incorporate candle-ligcomponents to their ceremoLighting unity candles blendsfamilies together into one in a bolic way. Other couples choose dent traditions, such as mixing twferent-colored sands in a new vto represent the joining of twotogether. You can consider these

of additions for your wedding cerny or come up with your own untradition.

tay on schedule when mailingwedding invitations S

Invitations are a vital componentof wedding planning. In addition toinforming guests about the details of the ceremony and reception, weddinginvitations convey the tone and styleof the day.

While there are no rules governingwedding invitations, there are someways for couples to ensure they stayon schedule when mailing invitations.

    • Order invitations early. Couplescan start to consider their invitationoptions once the wedding date andvenue have been chosen. The weddingstationery industry has changed a lotover the years. Couples can now orderinvitations from local retailers, useonline printers, or design and printtheir own invitations from home.Invitations should be worded careful-ly and proofed several times beforeprinting, so expect the process totake a couple of weeks from start tofinish. Plan for this time so you willhave the invitations ready for mailing

roughly three months before yourwedding day. Always remember toorder extra invitations so you havespares in case you make a mistake ormake last-minute additions to yourguest list.

    • Get organized before mailing.Start preparing invitations about amonth before you plan to ship them,as this gives you ample time to write

envelopes so you do not have tothem all on the same day. Keeguest list handy and double-checspelling of names and the addrTraditional etiquette sugaddresses should be handwritten

computer-produced calligraphenvelopes is now just as accepAvoid printed labels. Be sure tothe complete invitation weighthe post office so you will exactly how much postage is reqPurchase stamps for both the ition and the response cards.

    • Coordinate mailing timeRSVP deadlines. Mail invitaroughly eight weeks before theding. This gives guests time to room in their schedules and arfor travel, if necessary. Setresponse date for three weeks bthe wedding date so guests willthe time to make a decision andback the response. Many carequire a final head count one

before the wedding, so makeyour RSVP date is at least two wbefore the big day so you can acfor late responders.

    • Don't let responses linger. off who is coming and who cmake it as you receive each respThis way you'll know just how responses are still outstandingyou can follow up if necessary.

future the district could complete thebathroom addition.

"Bottom line is right now (is) we'removing forward with a portion of thesecond floor bathroom addition,"Soderberg said. He added the $39,401is coming out of the constructionbudget.

Board member Bruce Warnimontadded that it would cost $74,000 toconstruct the second floor bathroombut not do finishing and roofing.McMullen said the $74,000 would be a

shell of the second floor and recom-mended the board proceed with thatoption.

"Trying to in five years to accom-plish the same would be incrediblymore," McMullen said, saying the pricemay be "three times as much."

"The opportunity is there. We're onsite, we have the materials readily

available. That makes the most senseto me," McMullen said. The board approved the structural

expansion for the second floor withspace for the future bathroom build

out.As an aside, Warnimont added that

in long term the district won't be ableto add students at the school until theschool's septic system is changed tohandle the additional capacity.

"We don't really know what thatmeans, we'll have to do some researchon that," Warnimont said.

As far as proceeding with otherparts of the project, SuperintendentJeffrey Holmes said "I think the addingon to the buildout fully is probably inthe best interests of the district at this

    time."Holmes said the district

appropriately utilize the spacebuildout of the entire second flapproved.

McMullen said if the board ized a buildout of the seconwould be ready at the same timrest of the construction. If it

until the future, it would be doeight to 10 weeks during the sHe said his firm would need anon a full buildout within the nmonths.

Germantown couldn't escape with a last sec-ond win against a North Shore Conference oppo-nent.

The Warhawks 77-conference game winningstreak was snapped by Cedarburg Jan. 8, as JohnDiener converted two free throws with 1.2 secondsleft to give the Bulldogs 63-62 win. The lossdropped Germantown's record to 4-1 in conference

and 7-3 overall -- with those three losses comingin the last three games.

"We did have a lot of chances, a lot of themcame on the offensive end. What we needed to dowas get more stops than we did on the defensiveend," Germantown Coach Mark Adams said after-ward.

It marked the first time Germantown had lostthree games in a season since the 2009-10 season.

The game was close for the entire first half, asthe teams stayed within three points of eachother. Consecutive three point baskets by MaxKeefe gave Germantown a 32-25 lead with 49 sec-onds remaining but Cedarburg scored the nextfour points before halftime.

The teams continued to stay close for theentire second half. A three-point basket by Dienergave the Bulldogs a 59-56 lead with 41 seconds

remaining. But Germantown's Juwan McCloudanswered with a three-point basket at the otherend of court a few seconds later. Two free throwsby Diener gave Germatnown a 61-59 lead with23.4 seconds remaining, but McCloud answeredwith a three-point basket that gave Germantowna 62-61 lead with 10 seconds left, setting thestage for the final seconds of the game.

Adams said being involved in the game was a"gut check."

"It ends up not turning out the way you want-ed and you get in the locker room and you tellthem not only was the end of that game a gut

check but how you respond is going to be thesame way. That's pretty much our message justnow," Adams said.
